TWTW (The week that was)

Better late than never....

Because of blogger and blogspot being blocked in office, it has become quite a task to blog!!!!

The beginning of this week I had been to three weddings all in and around Shimoga. The beginning of this week , witnessed a lot of different bakshagaLu and tested my gastronomic limits.

The creme-de-la-creme was me having a little bit of tambaaku (with some excruciatingly fiery betel leaves) unknowingly. It was like a shot in the head to say the least.

Last week, Tejaswi, Kumar and me packed our bags to Shivamogga, Nadahalli and the nearby places. I will upload a few photos for your viewing. We had been to Teju's very old house in Nadahalli. (the above one).

Teju had a quiet birthday , most of it was celebrated using phone calls ... :-)

There are a lot of things to say abt the trip, but I gotta go !!!

Happy Birthday Zeedy boy .... Eega gnaapka banthu ....
Have a nice evening dear ....

Sunday, March 18, 2007

I had a great weekend. The highlight of the weekend was of course, the iron maiden concert!
Akshay, Teju and I had a rocking time of our lives on the 17th of March 2007. It is a pit I cannot upload photos, coz' my phone's photos are of pretty low quality :-(

Man! Bruce Dickinson has so much energy on stage for his age. Besides there was literally a SEA of black T-shirts and we looked kinda out of place. Also managed to catch Punk Floyd and Pramod.

Before that, we also had lunch at a place called "Fresco" which served really good continental food. And then there was the concert!

First were the cover bands. The first band on the stage "FTN", with two chinkis as guitarists kinda STRICTLY OKAY . They were REALLY good for an audience of maybe 1000+. But with a sea of 30000 people, it is REALLY difficult to control the audience. The audience were merciless and showed them the finger, in true metal headstyle( tee hee). And then there was Parikrama, playing REALLY good songs like "Rhythm and Blues", "But It Rained" , "Whisky" and so on. The violinist did a really good job and kinda kept the crowd controlled for a period of an hour. But later, another budding rock star of London, Lauren Harris took the stage and the crowd were not so kind to her either! Maybe she'll learn it after a few gigs, after seeing her dad.

Later, the old tigers unleashed their art designs on the stage. The crowd went berseck after seeing Iron Maiden LIVE! on stage!!! The screams were deafening loud.

The stage looked AWESOME. And they started off with some numbers of their new album called "A matter of life or death". Hardcore Maiden fans could recognize this album. But later, they proceeded on play their old favorites like "The number of the beast" , "Trooper" , "Fear of the Dark", "Iron Maiden" (from their first album), "12 minutes to midnight", "Hallowed be thy name", "Run to the Hills" (my favorite) etc. Bruce Dickinson also dedicated one of the songs "Wrathed Child" to some Indian guy, I don't remember his name.

There were people pouring into Bangalore from all over India and some people had come all the way from Kathmandu!

YESTERDAY , Kummi entrance togonda. Had some Dosas in Vidyarti Bhavan and later some AWFUL COFFEE prepared by me.

And today, wishing you all a HAPPY UGADI and I use the following C expression :-
age++;

Okay post done.

Happy Birthday Moms!!!!

Its been a while, since we met. Since we all met. Since we pulled each other's legs. Since we hung out in Paapu's room. Since we got bitten by mosquitoes in some football field. Since we visited Guru Garden. Since we cursed NVP. Since we ate those glorious panipuris in Ashoka Pillar. Since we had those introspective conversations during short walks near your place. Since we had great coffee in SLV. Oh that coffee, if there is anything I miss in Bombay, its the coffee. Ahhh, it hurts not to drink great coffee. I do miss the chow-chow bath, but well....

Times have passed, and people haved moved places. Met new people ;) But a few things have remained the the same. Finns beat Germans still, and the management bug continues to bite.

Happy Birthday Maga, hope you are with people you want to be with today.

Happy Birthday Sudeep

Welcome to the real world :)))). Unfortunately, no one can be told how it feels to have a quarter...er....be a quarter. You have to feel it for yourself. And now that you are here, I will let you soak in the feeling.

Happy Birthday maga!! Between You and GD at the ends of the spectrum, we have (had) great people in the 1979-80 academic year. Imagine, go back 25 years.....all of us in cradles, not knowing where we would meet as friends, not caring, growing up, making first friends who disappear after we grow older, making long lasting friends during the formative years of childhood, going to school together, playing sports, eating food, discovering the opposite sex, those definitive self-discovering days of college, one-way traffic, going through agonies, anger, angsts, ego-trips, successes, failures, learning to accept each other, tolerate each other, and finally, now, after all these years, all I know is that I miss you Sudeepa. Wish we could hit the south Bangalore food circuit today on your sister's Scooty and discuss the usual crap.

Happy Birthday again.

birthday blues....

Thanks makla....... Missing you folks too.....

Birthday blues was at its peak this time. Bored the hell out of an international call from GD with all my depressive stories. That something is missing, something is wrong, happiness seems to be elusive etc. etc. After that, was working on some term paper that is due tonight. The guys were going over to the all night canteen and pulled the reluctant but hungry me along. And as we went downstairs to get our cycles, the four of them presented me with bottle of fine red wine!!!....

We ditched the canteen, went behind the department to a lonely bench. My swiss knife coming to the rescue, with the cork. And then.......Jahan chaar yaar.....jahan chaar yaar miljaye, wahi raat ho guzaaar....jahan chaar yaar. One of these guys is a big fan of Sharaabi and all its shayri-lyrics-songs. We had a round of wine drinking coupled with songs. And then, the mood settled in, and some happiness started to trickle from nowhere......As I was the one supposed to get drunk, I did..........singing the song.......

"agar nasha sharaaab mein hota......toh naachti bottle....."
"maikade jhoomte paimaano.....mein hoti hulchul....."

(if the high was due to the drink, the bottle would dance, bars would glow, and wineglasses would be restless)

We ended the session on "suroor" (this urdu word gets it all into great perspective).....

A birthday to remember......for motley reasons, as are all birthdays.......

HAPPY B'DAY TEJAZZWI !

:-)))

TEJU

25 years .... Quarter Century!
Have fun man!

Will call you in the evening....
