I think the joker who did the survey had a nasty experience in Bombay...So he came up with an idea of screwing India in general and Bombay in particular by creating a survey.
And what was the basis of the survey ? Here it was, deliberately gathering points
where we are actually having a defect:-
The magazine sent its over 2,000 reporters to gauge the politeness level of leading cities in 35 countries where it publishes from.
The survey used three tests to take stock of the politeness factor -- dropping papers in a busy street to see if anyone would help, checking how often shop assistants said "thank you", and counting how often someone held a door open.
Well...There is one valid point. The politeness factor test done in the survey, is NOT just in Bombay but in the whole of India. The point is, are we THAT bad to top a godammn list ?

papanna..the point is..that survey hardly affects anyone..nobody is going to change his/her attitude just because of some survey..and definitely that should not change someone's plans of visiting 'amchi mumbai'
and as u pointed out..the three tests are really something in which we are sure to fail..i mean..we are not at all used to the mannerisms of last 2 tests..
yeah..i know..if we (mumbai) had topped the list as being most polite city..may be I wouldn't have said the same things ..but what the hell..i dont like it..
well how does it matter? if we are polite or rude?
people move on with their lives!!
i guess lack of surviving skills by that guy has driven him to do this.
When u by darwins theory that survival of fittest, whts wrong if ppl implement it?
i find sometimes these americans are too dumb(??) or too very much in comfort to survive a challenge
