Warning : Apologize for the topic to be named so, and there is no resemblance to the women I know personally. Please do not misunderstand me.

The lady was stubborn, believe me she was hard like a rock. She stood to her point. You twist the question, rephrase, paraphrase etc etc etc, she wouldnt fall for the trap. Instead, she corrects the question everytime before she answers. The interviewer is flummoxed. He is desperate to tie her up using his most powerful weapon - words. But, alas he is dumbfounded everytime. The interviewer had put others in a state of flux almost everytime on his talk show. But this time he was at the recieving end.

Aaaa, Karan Thapar, you could not get out what you wanted to of Miera Kumar. The lady was pretty smart, rather she had only one point - "Reservation for SC (to be Yesh C - in her accent)/ST in private sector" is a must. She spoke as if she was born to achieve this, this was her soul aim in life and GOD had sent her to achieve this on his behalf.

Karan Thapar tried to squeeze in statistics, quotes from business leaders, protests etc etc. But the lady was stubborn- if you dont do it, I have to enact a legislation. Her stubborness was vindicated by herself. Affirmative action is not enough I want reservation for YESH C/YESH T in the private sector. Its their moral right. Its their fundamental right. I want reservation YESH C/YESH T in the private sector.

Karana Thapar had to resign with "Thank you for joining us" ( you stubborn lady - in the background).

I kept switching between "Jack Nicholson's witty remarks in 'Something's gotta give' and ' I want reservation YESH C/YESH T in the private sector' "

I have lost my belch

Aargh. My fridge is empty. To quote Sinistar, best among philosophers, I hunger ( enter for wisdom ). (clarification: there are leftovers, but I hunger for good food.) It seems that it is time to run to the Indian store.

Mobile Spamming ..

I have been a viticm (and a grave one) of mobile spamming. Its gone to such a level I decided to throw away my mobile for a while.

Airtel is the mother of all spammers (belive me, though I havent used HUTCH or BSNL or SPICE I can promise that Airtel can be a frontrunner in spamming).

Just some of the messages they send.

1. Call #$%^&* and get free tones of Himesh Reshamiya and similiraly from kannada movies, upendra movies, sallu bhai and every tom dick and harry in the world and they dint leave DR.Raj also ........only clause Rs 6min/call

boooooooohhhhhhh, my phone is only for talking

2. Recharge now or never options. Do this you get that stuff with conditons apply clauses

3. Win Jackpot SMS &*() ..
Dude I havent been that lucky in my life. I am happy if the values of my stocks rise and I am out of loss okay.

Imagine this, you are sitting all alone from morning and you would not have talked to anyone and no funny SMS from your friends also and suddenly your mobile beeps. You excitedly look into it for a message from your beloved (I have been greedy here, we spend our time together always :) ) , your friend sending a cheapo forward (atleast this one).. okay, some emergency message ( I need help types...yuck no luck here too) and you end up getting one of those sutpid AIRTEL stuff.

If they gimme free SMSing facility == the number they send, I will be a true and loyal customer of theirs for life ;-)

Now they have gone to a whole new level, you get calls from AIRTEL, some cranky lady's voice recorded in the following way

"Namaskara, idhu Airtel inda Uchita kare ...." , I havent gone past Namaskara most of the times, but I have sometimes progessed till here.

Thank you Airtel lady for making my day. I may not get any calls from my known people but you for sure, make sure that you make (read mar) my day my day.

Back in Bangalore

Life is again at full speed.....I have to realise that it is not just abt the jetlag, but lag in everything. Indian cities are "fast", because of the sheer amount of people everywhere.

There is a new Radio Station at Bangalore called 93.3 Radio Mirchi. No idea, when the hell did it start.My car has magically picked up that frequency.There are promoting words like "sakkath" and "maga"....Lol... First was "Enjoy maaDi" , now it is "sakkath hot maga".....Whatever! So people are making some effort to familiarise the slang.

Meanwhile, Bangalore is the same as ever. The chaos , buildings rising up in no time...This city never stops and this time I am not surprised.The are two apartments (which were at ground level next to my house) are nearing completion.

The petrol prices have risen up again. What the heck !!! There is a massive media coverage on reservation and medical students...I have to look into that. Didnt get time to understand the whole controversy.

Meanwhile, a few liquor chocos I bought went into the wrong hands (my father,mother,grandfather,grandmother).....Some people dont look at a chocolate's cover while devouring it.....Thank god they didnt recognize what they ate!!! muahahahah....

With Kamalnath and the social welfare minister pressing on a 2 year deadline on reservations in private sector, do u feel there is a chance that you will be voted back to power?

Your alliance partner DMK is in power, so its sure that the LS seats will go to AIADMK. You have lost another 40 votes. Kerala too has gone out of your hands, so will be Karnataka. Your darling x-CM - Dharam Singh- has managed to irke the people of this state to a maximum and HDK is doing quite well you see. Goa is volatile and you do not know about AP with your alliance working like a unhappy couple.

Right now you are in power but dancing to the Left tunes, I feel the you might have to supprot Left from outside or worst case the Left will manage without you, which again means there is no future for anyone in the country. No offecnce meant UPA. O dont mean that the NDA provided any better governance. There were lots a complaints from the rural poor, who voted NDA out of power. But with no good monsoons and hazaar farmer suicies, I think that was inevitable (though not predicted) that NDA would be voted out of power.

In short we have a bunch of losing political parties fighting hard to win. Each one have their own agenda to screw the country. We need to pick the best of the lot.

As Bill Gates put it rightly 'Democracy is the least corrupt way to run a country'.

So we really dont have a choice in here.

Da Vinci Code

Well, I saw this movie. This movie had a damn housefull theatre. This was least expected, considering the facts that:-
a) Mission Impossible #3 had arnd 40 people in the whole theatre
b)United 93 had 10 people in the theatre
c)I heard that Rang De Basanti was watched by 4 people in the theatre.

The same theatre was HOUSEFULL yesterday, something unseen by me.

The movie is very collinear with the book.They have not deviated and called a spade , a spade. However, it is very difficult to write a screenplay for a novel like Da Vinci Code.The acting job is challenging especially for the protagonists as they keep falling into loooong religious controversial conversations.

Nevermind the movie. I loved Audrey Tautou.Such dark, big expressive eyes.

Around Sourcing ?

I just read this article by Thomas Friedman, the journalist. One of the paragraphs caught my attention.

I was recently interviewing Ramalinga Raju, chairman of India's Satyam Computer Services. Satyam is one of India's top firms doing outsourced work from America, and Mr. Raju told me how Satyam had just started outsourcing some of its American work to Indian villages. The outsourcee has become the outsourcer.

Mr. Raju said: "We told ourselves: if business process outsourcing can be done from cities in India to support cities in the developed world, why can't it be done by villages in India to support cities in India. ... Things like processing employee records can be done from anywhere, so there is no reason it can't be done from a village." Satyam began with two villages a year ago and plans to scale up to 150.

There is enough bandwidth now, even reaching big Indian villages, to parcel out this work, and the villagers are very eager. "The attrition level is low, and the commitment levels high," Mr. Raju said. "It is a way of breathing economic life into villages." It gives educated villagers a chance to stay on the land, he said, and not have to migrate to the cities.


The basic conclusion, I reached is any *.* sourcing is madness.

The BBC Goof-up

The BBC goofed up and interviewed a person X instead of a person Y on Air !!!

A person named Guy Kewney was to be interviewed about the story BBC is doing on the Apple v/s Beatles.However, the BBC ended up interviewing another guy Guy Goma who had come for a job interview at the BBC !

It all started when the producer of the show goes to the wrong reception room and asks for "Guy".Guess who raises the hands?

Guy Goma, a guy from Congo, who had come in for a job interview.This man shared the same first name "Guy" and he had come for a job interview at BBC.He's a Business Studies graduate, from the Congo, and he was there in reception because he was applying for a high level IT job with the BBC.

Well, the guy next to me is an eastern european , as I mentioned in my earlier posts. A Romanian to be precise.His native state is "transylvania". Does that place sound familiar.I guess so :). Well it is where Count Dracula lived (in the novel Dracula) and the Dracula novel is set. I thought it was a fictional place.

Returning to our discussion,nobody gave the guy a rod nor a place to stand. The great man figured that nobody would give him that. Thats why , he was great.Now I will say this :-

Give me a machine which will travel in the speed of time and I will go backwards and rewrite history

Reservation about Reservations

In an interesting debate with my Father about reservations we came to the following conclusions

1. Reservations for SC/ST should be present in all forms of education, but mechanisms to prevent the creamy layer should be implemented
2. The MOBCs should be identified (Most Backward classes) and reservation should be extended to them in all forms of education
3. Reservations should not encouraged in employment, but there should be affirmative action
4. Affirmative action should be extended to economic backward class irrespective of caste. Reservation will not work here as it is not easy to define "economic backwardness"
5. Unfilled seats via reservation should be given back to General merit. But this requires a proper implementation.

But for all of the above to work in a +ve manner there should be AWARENESS created about education and its benefits in these people. Another way is to lure ppl towards education.

Mid-day meal is an excellent program which is working towards educating the masses.
People are sending their kids so that atleast these ppl get access to one proper meal per day. In the process the kids picks-up a little of formal GYAN.

There should be more scholarships at higher education level, so that the backward class people complete their education and make a living out of it. THE CREAMY layer should be punished if they even try for reservation.

Reasons for the above

A large population of SC/ST/MOBCs do not have access to education. Their economic state is very bad. They are mostly worried about making a living for the day. In that most of them tend to ignore the benefits of education.
Most of them are still under bonded labour, more of it in the Northern states and the backward villages.

My Village. The incidents my dad gave were shocking.

After the discussion, my reservations about reservation has gone down.
I realised that I hate the concept of reservation due to its bad implementatioin.

I feel its better a mediocre backward (economically) student gets a living for himself and his family by studying in a reserved seat rather than a well-to-do meritorious guy who will flee to US of A.

In general I conclude Reservation with proper implementation is a must for the all-round development of the society.
The current move by the govt is absurd, as 90% of the listed OBC's have very well-to-do people and this should not happen.
The MOBCs should be identified and reservation should be extended to them, may be a max of 7.5%.
Affirmative action in employing these ppl should also be implemented.

More number of seats should be added so that Merit students arent deprived. We need to check Brain Drain and reservations should not become a pretext for people to flee.

I saw this movie.
The tagline of the movie runs likes this :-
September 11, 2001. Four planes were hijacked. Three of them reached their target. This is the story of the fourth.

First and foremost, this movie has nothing to do with patriotism.The passengers were not even aware that this was a terrorist act. It is about ego clashes between some passengers and the terrorists who want things to go as per THIER plans.It is not about team spirit.It is about reacting in a way every human being reacts when he is as strong as the other guy and his ego is hurt.This movie is about many things. It is about the tension in the NewYork Air Control Room , when the four planes were hijacked. This movie is very importantly about the grit and determination of the terrorists.Their faces, their ambush.

The movie has made an impact on me and I am still thinking abt the godammn movie. It is very disturbing.Very realistically made.

Kudos to the director , who has made this masterpiece.

Interns

Well, I saw this news item that Infosys will recruit interns as a part of its prestigious inStep program.

Interns would be recruited from technology and business schools including Said Business School, University of Oxford and London Business School, UK, Mannhelm University, Germany, Ecole Polytechnique, France, and St Gailen, Switzerland, an Infosys release said

Is there anything very special abt the inStep program ?

Interns will have the opportunity to work at Infosys Headquarters in Bangalore, on high quality, high visibility projects for eight to 24 weeks, it said.

I guess many of us who have worked at/working for Infy do the same thing. By high quality == CMM level 5 or higher. High Visibility == You can be seen by everybody on the plush Infy campuses and be recognized as an Infy Intern.The best part will be staying at 5* hotels and going around in golf cars.

But,am I missing something here ? Why is the inStep program so high-profile , that it gets coverage in Economic times and all that?

The point is :- All the software companies who are big gasmasters have inflated "Brand India" to something very high and unrealistic. This seems so superficial.

Lets accept the fact

Sometimes you are 'the MOST WANTED' - in your company, at your home, by your friends, by your partners and thankfully not by the Police. And at times you are 'dead & stale meat & a burden'.

The only way to be the coveted one at workplace is to accept all challenges thrown at your. I prefer to call challenges as stupidities at times. You need to put in those extra hours, burn midnight oil, live on coffee and pizza, screw up your health and walk away with a 'thank you mail' from the "DELIGHTED" customer.

At home, you are the best kid if you dont have opinions and walk on a line drawn by your parents. Question their system and you are screwed.

Friends - aaahhh this the most easy one.. you can walk into a gang anytime and you can move out any time. I depends on your interests and like mindedness (dont know if this is the correct word). No one judge's you much and no one bothers. Just give a ring when you want to join some ppl and they accept you without any tanturms. There might a few leg pullings, but its funnnnnnnnn nevertheless.

Topcoder statistics

I was going through the Country-wise topcoder rankings of programmers.

This survey, I feel is a good indication of where we are heading.

And I was of the opinion that India is moderately good in Programming than the rest of the world.Look at the number of programmers(931) in India and the ranking(15th). And just check out China.This looks like the Olympic Games Medal Tally which we see every 4 years and sulk.

I got confused between a programmer and a software engineer.
This was going on in my mind since yesterday.

These kind of contests may judge a great programmer. But A GREAT ENGINEER ? A GREAT INNOVATOR ? These guys are what companies need....Ofcourse, they need, good programmers who are like tailors(skilled labor).....But the innovators and engineers are the movers and shakers for the success of a company.

This has caused some panic even in America

Let's face it:-

A great innovative programmer CREATES.The great programmers in this world are those who have demonstrated their abilities by actually designing and implementing great software. Coding the solution in a competition proves great problem SOLVING capabilities BUT NOT PROBLEM DISCOVERING abilities.A good guy in the software industry, should also know that he must be able to sense the need of automating some tasks or he should sniff at a system, and say "hey! i can write a piece of sw, instead of tabulating and writing in a book".You don't have to look any further than the GNU, Linux, Apache, KDE, Gnome etc. etc. CVS and mailing lists to find the real great innovators!

As well as software engineers? The best ones are those who can demonstrate abilities in :-
a) DESIGN
b) RE-ENGINEERING
c) DOCUMENTATION & COMM SKILLS.

Well , as far as many jobs coming to India.....This may be happening for sometime....We'll surely have stiff competition from China and Eastern Europe....I see a lot of Eastern Europeans in Ottawa :D ....Even the guy next to me is a Romanian....

The unltimate Goal

of life or in one's life, according to me, is to figure out as to exactly why one was born. (on the funnier side we can say it was an accident which had dangerous consequences ;-) )

Everyone is in search of this ultimate truth which is unique to every single person. The whole life is as such a struggle to find out THIS particular GOAL . In the process we would have traversed several paths, helping some, bring smiles on someone's face, harming some, hating some, loving others, hurting intentionally sometimes & unintentionally at times, ispiring someone to follow you, demotivating others and etc etc etc. Most of the above might be happening simultaenously but we look at +ve part almost always and move on.

And when you observe the dark side of life, you sit and blog, read someone's blog and feel cozy that some other guy/girl is going through the same feelings.

And finally one day you feel that you reached your ultimate goal - mostly in your death bed. The goal === sum of all good things you have done enroute your death bed. YOu will be apologetic to all the people who you have harmed, but there will be none to pardon you.

So, feel sorry deeply and truly when you have hurt someone one and come to know of it. Apologise for your mistakes and hope that you are pardoned.

Laugh and feel goood when you have realised that you have done a good deed. Inspire others to follow suit. Showcase your good to others and ask others to do good.

Small chapters of life are very hard to learn.

Why I am touched abt this article is that, when I am in India, my purse does not have any 1 rupee coins at all. Forget the 25 paise/50paise coins. Everything starts at 2 rupee coin and 5 rupee coins are very common. But here, the coins still have value and you can get quite a bit of things with a 25 cent and a dollar coin. And they give the exact change, so the purse becomes really heavy with coins....

A question which popped up in one of the many "Friday General Meetings" (back in Bangalore, some weeks ago) was this :-

Is "youth" a state of mind or has it really got to do with numbers ?

I am talking about the people in their 20s/30s/40s, and not people in their 70s or 80s.

I believe Youth is more a state of mind.Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals/giving up/sulking and brooding/regretting.Some people look lively and bubbling all the time , whereas some people look worn out and tired. Each face tells us a different story.Various opinions came out of the discussion.

One of the discussions which arouse out of this topic went something like this :-

Can we prevent ageing by "taking interest" and "enthusiasm" about many things like hobbies

I think, this is true in its own way.If we have the appetite for adventure over the love of ease, I think we can achieve grow older at a lesser rate(and be happy).A child has an un-ending supply of enthusiasm in it. It is always curious and takes the game of living as a kind of joy, it just doesnt give up and start seeing "a pattern" in life and make predictions and finally end up bored.It always has the attitude of "whats next" in life.

We can simulate curiousity and joy by just forcibly involving and exploring new things with renewed josh and thus keep us "alive".

A counter argument ran something like this :-

Some of us here have had really rough times and life has taken us through perilious paths.They often look a lot mature than their "age", they have wrinkles and white hair faster because they worry and they had a reason to worry.

I would agree that one too.The ones who are beaten by the weathers of tough times.

But, as I just read in one of the forwards I got today :-

In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station; so
long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men
and from the Infinite, so long are you young.

Sitcoms and background laughter.

Why do you give a background laughter when you make a comedy sitcom ?
I guess they give a background laughter to cheer the viewer up, and give a theatrical touch.

But the big question is HOW DO THEY TAPE LAUGTHER ????

I guess they go to one of the laughing clubs. I had been there once. You go there just to laugh for no purpose. And you actually start to laugh heartily after seeing so many people putting an effort to laugh. The fact and principle at laughing clubs is this :-

They are not lauging WITH you. They are laughing AT you

All this thoughts come into my mind after watching Friends and Seinfeld and other shows like that.So, finally, I started enjoying the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. serial. The serial which I never thought which I would like. Everything you say is followed by people laughing at the background. So you never know whether they are laughing at your jokes or yourself! But who cares! Just lol and sit back!!

For example :-

I have been watching it everyday here.
(the background laughter erupts).

I think this serial is FAR BETTER than Everybody loves Raymond.

So the weekend is here!!
(the background laughter erupts).

The fact is that boring people never know the fact that they are boring

The local music channels and radio stations here are big patrons of modern rock music.
"System of a down" has come up with an amazing song called "Lonely Day".

Red Hot Chilli Peppers , the grand daddys (the guys who have been there from the 80s and giving us really great music ) have come up with another song called "Dani California".The video is simple amazing.

Another music video which has inspired me to write a script (when I get the time is Nickelback's "Saving me"). This video is eerie, very chick and philosopical.

Weekend was AMAZING.
I had been to Niagara Falls and experienced Nature at its fierce best!
and I had also been to Downtown Toronto.

Toronto looks like your typical American city (the ones I saw in HBO).It is huge, and has sky scrapers everywhere. But man! that place is infested with Indians everywhere.
It is much much bigger than Ottawa. Ottawa is a small city with a little neighbourhood. But I heard that the rate of crime is high here in Ottawa.

Initially I was joyous when I saw an Indian in Ottawa. But now the feeling is like :-
Yappa esht jana indians!!!! yella kade virus thara band bittidaare....

ESPECIALLY Toronto. Indians and Chinese everywhere.

Not just engineers. Infact, engineers are a minority. It is full of bus drivers, grocery shop keeper wallahs, taxi drivers ,coffee shops (even astrologers!!!!!)

I have browsed orkut today more than 3 hrs...phew! But it was good today.

Job quota: PM's advice to industry

says rediff and economic times puts its well. This comes close on the heels of an announcement by Arjun singh abt reservations in IITs/IIMs and other central institutes.

Obviously, all these reservation moves are aimed at 'minority community' votes. What I find unbelievable is the direction of vote bank politics. Let us analyze the premise for reservations: people from backward classes dont fair well because of socio-economic reasons and hence need a push to ensure that they are 'well represented' in most fields. Agreed. So, this means that 'majority community' is omnipresent because of whatever reasons and to strike a balance we will take away something from majority community and give it to minority community. Logically, isn't this a political suicide? You are trying to appease minority community at the cost of majority community? A second standard kid can say which community has more votes and 'arithmetically' speaking, whom should you try to win over. The other possible explanations for wooing minority community could be that political parties have taken majority community for granted or political parties are very confident of majority community support for some reason(which i can't make out)...wait a minute..is minority community really a minority community in terms of population or more precisely, population that actually votes?

Disclaimer: Strictly speaking, I am not against reservations, I am just against the way it is being implemented and in this post I am not hinting that majority community should raise in protest or some such thing..I was just wondering about the arithmetic of vote bank politics.

Moving Weekend

A long weekend. A very "movie movie" weekend. I saw two movies :-

-Scary Movie #4 (they could have renamed it to Sh***y Movie)
-V for Vendetta (One word about this movie - "Duh?" . What is the movie abt? )
-Ice Age #2 (Very , very nice).

A word about the mulitplexes in Ottawa.

So many resources, so little people

There will be 500+ seats.

For Scary Movie , there were about 30 people in the theatre.
For ice Age about 50 people .
For V for Vendetta , about 20 people.

So, if the fun of movie going was solely to WATCH the movie, it is very good.
But the place is EMPTY.

And EMPTY THEATRES MAKE NO NOISE AT ALL

And there was lord of the rings. #1 , #2 and #3 running back to back on TV.

And there was Tere Naam of Salman Khan.

I enjoyed watching Salman Khan and Bhumika in Tere Naam.

Bhumika is booming in my heart.

hahaha.

I have no clue , about the exact date , when I am coming back to India.
But I am damn sure , it is by end of May. Because my Visa is till june beggining.
My schedule has not started properly here , because people are really busy over here.
If they are very busy, they work from home.

I have listed some movies which immediately come to my mind when I think of Rajkumar the actor.And most of them are monstrous hits.

#10 CID 999 series
====================
These movies, namely Operation Diamond Rocket, Jedara Bale, Bengalooru Mail were the heavily inspired James Bond flicks in the early and late sixties.Yes, they consisted of "gadgets" (you have to see this movies!) and quite a few "good looking" & "scantily clad" women. The most important woman who made her debut in the CID 999 series was the Hindi film actress and daughter of Gemini Ganesan , Rekha. Rajkumar looked pretty suave in the suits (ofcourse the movies are black and white) but his english was really bad.

But the best part of the CID 999 series was the camaraderie which he had with another great comedian, NarasimhRaju

#9 Bhaktha Prahallada

Dr. Raj IS best remembered for the roles , he donned as kings and characters of mythology.He came from the famed drama company "Gubbi Company" and had a strong theatrical background, early in his career .Thats why he could effortlessly blend good songs into his movies.I dont think any Kannada actor today can make justice to the "Mythological" roles, like he did. He is brilliant as HiranyaKashipu in this memorable movie.And the moustache he dons in this movie shows the age which it was filmed and he does justic to this.

#8 Shravana Banthu

This movie has got little to do with his acting skills, but it has a lot to do with his songs.I love the song
Ide Raagadalli, ide taaladalli
Nice fairy tale-ish script and a good movie which kept me glued to my seat.
However, it addressed the "then-sensitive" issues of inter-caste marriages in a nice way.It is to be kept in mind that, people were VERY DIPLOMATIC when they wanted to convey social messages. They were never hard-hitting/direct.So this movie will fail to make any impact today.

#7 Eradu Kanasu
================
A good movie dealing with heartbreaks and marriages having a rough start with a lot of cold war. Very good song. I loved two songs from this movie.
Tam nam, Tam nam and Yendendu ninnanu Marethu

#6 Mayura
============
A very stylised , improvised story of the history of the Kadamba dynasty founder "Mayura". Good swordfights (for Kannada movie standards) and garish (but colorful costumes!). Again, the movie hits a home run because of Rajkumar's charisma.

#5 Babruvahana
===============
An excellent movie, dealing with ego conflicts between Arjuna and his son Babruvahana.Excellent rendering of dialogs in the form of dramatic verses, in the form of songs.Rajkumar has excelled in both the roles , as the older Arjuna and the younger and dandy Babruvahana. The PB Srinivas & RajKumar song is awesome!

#4 Bhagyavantharu
===================
Another good movie where Rajkumar plays the role of an old man who loses his power gradually in his family over the years.His strict upbringing of his children make him the person, which everyone loves to hate. One of the best tragedies played by Rajkumar.

My top#3 will be seen by most of us here.So I wont write anything about these three movies!

Weekend happened...It was okay...compared to the lousy weekend I had previously.

This weekend , I had been to Downtown Ottawa and this place reminded me of the plush places of Paris....This was a goood place to see. Well, there is a parliament, and everybody can walk into the canadian parliament!!! I dont think any other country would do that!! There is one mall called "CarlingWood mall". It is FULL OF senior citizens. There are apartments here which are meant for retired people. These are called "Retirement Suites". Man! I guess this city fits the bill of "Pensioner's Paradise" VERY VERY well.

The weather is gradually improving and we can see the sun is actually trying its level best to bring the warmth.

There is a lake (or river?) called Ottawa. When I came here, it was a flat land of snow and Ice. Now the ice is gone (70%) and the water looks really blue.

Well, I am still trying to find the bus numbers. I have went in the opposite direction as many as a dozen of times.Apart, from all this, I caught three movies on TV. The best one, was "The Untouchables".Nice movie.

Mandalism ..

More reservations. And this time it will affect all the premier institues - IIM, IITs JNU and the likes. Vote bank politics ???

With passage of time, one thinks reservations has to reduce. But, in our country the reversal has happened and now its getting frenzier. The MHRD is proposing a 27% quota for the OBCs in the above mentioned institutions ( I have no clue as to why the med institutions like AIIMS, JIPMER,PGI have been left out. fishy ;-) )

The reservation bill will not be implemented till the assembly elections are over. HMMM interesting. Should people vote for teh UPA govt or not ? - will it be a double edged sword.

Why are people still behind reservations for post-graduation studies. Why doesnt the govt look for improving the quality of primary education? try to alleviate the standard of life of the OBCs, minorities etc. How will reservations solve the problem ??

The creamy layer in these category will again make use of the reservation quota. Sons of IAS officers will be IAS officers. We will have IAS families, engineering families , a medico families etc etc from these sections, but these will represent just 1% of the whole targetted audience.

The acadamecians are already fuming about the proposal. The politicians have taken care not to heat up more, the already blazing summer by postponing the implementation of the reservation bill after the assembly elections. Will the monsoon by dry this year ?? Only time will tell.

Btw, anyway this policy can be stopped ? Can Supreme court do something about it ?
Will SMSes work time similar to the Jessica Lal case. ???

At a temperature of -3 degrees and snowfall, we chose to move into our new apartment.
There is snowfall in april in Canada and they calll it as "spring winter" it seems...

I met my old college mate Subramanya ( GD and Richie, remember "Kudre Motte"? ).
I think even Kumar knows Subramanya. He is from MES high school.

So, I know quite a few people here.

But the main problem with the apartment is that it doesnt have a phone.
I need a phone.

I am planning to see a movie called V for Vendetta. It is directed by the Wachowski brothers.There is a Basic Instinct2 released here.

And on Sunday, we heard a lot of Rang De Basanti & MAala Maal songs on TV !!
Man! it felt like home.

Well, I plan to go to Montreal this weekend.
Montreal is supposed to be bigger and more "happening" place.Ottawa is full of government buildings and high-tech companies and also old men and their wives walking with scarfs and woolen caps with their dogs.The city stops at 8:30.That is a little too early even for me.

There is a lot of white geese flying around the city. So, it looks like some birds sanctuary. Also there are traffic signs for "Geese crossing" & "Ducks crossings" like "school children crossing".Talk about living in harmony and following the traffic rules.

Accident..

My car was hit by a speeding car from behind yesterady. This incident left a dent on the bumper and made the bumper little out of its original place.
It happened on the BTM main road, near the building named "Seattle". It was a normal slow drive, with every one travelling at 30kmph and me having eyes wide open not to bang into someone. But, the other driver wasnt that careful. Bleady hell, he overestimated himself, his car, his brakes, his abilities .. blah blah blah..

I was furious, but I did not shout at him. I stopped the car, had a look at the dent (which wasnt major), gave him a loook and asked him to be careful and left the place without creating any ruckus. There were a few reasons to do so.

1. If I had continued for a few minutes more solving the issue, the whole road would have been jammed and there would be hazaaar people who would have cursed me ( I wouldnt handle so much curse u c ;-) )
2. I once banged a bike enroute office. The contact was at a perpendicualr angle with the mistake being entirely mine. All the bike guy said was "Dont worry dude, it happens". This left a lot of guilt within me, and from then I have been a careful driver.
3. A similar incident happened during the recent Kudremukh trip. My friend was overtaking a bus under a blind curve. A biker from the opposite direction travelling a 70kmph controlled his biked and managed to save himself without hitting the bus or the car. ( Rossi would have been proud of the control the guy displayed). All he managed was a cold stare which induced a lot of guilt in us.

Now it was my time to do the returns, and I returned without much tantrums. Hope the guy has learnt his mistake and wont repeat it.

I JUST HOPE

Ottawa is a good place, but it is sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepy.
Probably more sleepier than Mysore.

Man ! consider yourself LUCKY if you find 10 persons on a busy road.
Ofcourse there are cars zooming at unbelievable around everywhere.

The apartment search(for my friend (and me?) ) continues and hope it is to end tomorrow.

Nortel Office is like Vidhana Soudha here.It kinda looks like that.
It is a huge place and everyone knows this place.Great facilities.
It is BIG and AWESOME, and better than the swanky Infy Bangalore/Mysore Campus.
But buses are huge , empty and infrequent.

And the weather is merciless in the night.If asked, any Indian will easily walk on burning charcoal in this weather.And they will enjoy the stroll on the charcoal.

And they say, this is the summer.

For a guy who had never seen less than 10 degree Centigrade, man! it is like Brrrrrr....

Today, I woke up at around 12 and when I came out of my room to attend to daily chores, I saw four aged people(looked like two couples) walking around in my hostel wing. At first I thought they must be relatives of some kid and were here to spend a sunday ...but there was something different about them...they did not have the oh-this-place-is-new-to-me-and-i-am-lost look on their faces, generally all visitors have such a look..but these people were perfectly comfortable..I did not bother to find out who they were..

I saw them again..when I was going for lunch..they were talking to hostel G-Sec and he was holding our hostel t-shirts.

During lunch, my wingmate informed that the men were from the batch of 67!!and they were here to show their rooms to their wives!!! I found it unbelievable..I can't imagine taking my wife to pesit, 40 years after my graduation..just to show the place I studied..I am not talking about iit as I am still here and what I feel about this place may change..anyway..coming back to the point..why is it that I dont feel the same amount of belongingness towards pesit?even when I was in pesit, I never felt it was MY college..it was just a college were I studied..why is it so?because I never spent more than 5-6 hours per day in the college??is it because I did nothing other than attending lectures at campus?? or is it a plain and simple reason like pesit can never give me what iit gave to these people?I dont know..or is it a common phenomenon, as in most of us dont feel it? if it is a common thing, then again why is it so?

Dosa and thirst

I had two extremely tasteful dosas in the morning at home at around 8:00 am, drank some water, had my cuppa tea and boarded the office bus. Well this is a routine - I have my breakfast, water (stressing water seperately as I have almost half a litre)and tea and travel to office by bus.

But on the days I have dosa, my mouth becomes parched after an hour or so.
I have never experienced thirst when I have idlis considering that both idlis and dosa are made of the same ingredient - rice and tur dal.

Now, is it cos of the oil applied to dosa or the Aloo palya or the mode of cooking. Well there might be a research paper by some BSc-Home Science graduate on this one.

If the gastronomes have an answer please let me know

office of profit ..

A lot of ruckus was created over the "office of profit" controversy.
Jaya B was the first victim. And many followed. Sonia was the high profile exit (shes like Sachin tendulkar of indian policits. Any move gets so much media attention). Sonia - the sacrificer, Sonia compared to Mother theresa. Is our nation so obsessed about Gandhis, white skin etc etc.

Some more high profile exits followed, the latest being Anil Ambani. TOI says its a tactful business move by the younger Ambani scion. Well, good move Anil. But, your 22km run for the Mumbai marathon was more impressive ;-).

Now, I do not have an issue with MPs from the Rajya Sabha quitting. Some Tom Dick/Harry will get nominated into the house. The real worry is about Lok Sabha MPs. Are we going to see elections contested again to fill these seats. If so, who will bear the election costs ?? Election commision ? Isnt there any fine imposed on these MPs for? Please please lemme know.

Vrroming to office..

After a long time I travelled to office by bike today. Infact I do not remember when was the last time I raced my bike to office. I had dropped the idea of bike rides on Hosur road considering it unsafe. But today I vouch that it is one the most safest ways of travel on Hosur road. At no point of time you can travel beyond 50kmph on this road, thanks to the traffic. And it is particularly safe for me as my bike doesnt travel beyond 60kmph.

Most of the ride was on the part of the land between the drinage and the actual (call it the dummy shoulder). Infact this tract of land supports the maximum two - wheeler traffic. :-) It just took me < 1 hour to reach office.

I plan to travel back home at arnd 2:00pm and this was the reason for the wonderful BIKING experience. Well it might be a different story now, with the HUMID AIR replacing the cold waves and not to mention the high pollution levels.

However, if the exp is not so badd, I would like to try it a few more times in the coming days

She was interested in Astronomy.I was interested in painting her. We decided to paint a series which involved the stellar evolution and her moods.The "stars part" was to satisfy her desire.And I wanted her to be in my paintings.She was my biggest inspiration in my paintings.

WOMAN
Do stars have life ?

MAN
Wanda thought so.She told me they are just like human beings.They are born, they thrive, they pollute their ownselves, they die .They haunt us as black holes. They maybe reborn.

The MAN takes an old PAINTING and clears the cobwebs.

The PAINTING shows a cloud and a woman's face with blue eyes, gazing at the cloud.The cloud is a bright golden yellow.

MAN
You can see the clouds and a beautiful Wanda's face staring at the giant cloud of gas. This is the nascent stage of a star.The cloud is a a beautiful yellow.This was my first impression of Wanda. I loved her blue eyes.I loved her face and I said that to her more than a thousand times.

WOMAN
It's lovely.Looks like you were madly in love with her at that point of time.

The MAN takes the SECOND painting. It shows a green forest and a bright sun and a nude, beautiful woman lying on the forest floor.The SUN is throwing bright white light everywhere in the painting.

MAN
Our sun is in this state.Just after its "Young Guns" days , but still shining and full of energy and heat.It is bringing good feel to its entire surroundings , and going really good.

WOMAN
Whats that on her hand, in the painting ?

We zoom into A GOLD RING, which is seen on the painting.

MAN
Oh. That is a ring which she loved and wore all the time.

WOMAN
It is such a beauty.I think she loved it a lot.

MAN
Time flew by. We realised we were not the ideal couple for each other. She wanted to sell this for money. I wanted to complete the whole series.We painted out next painting.


The NEXT PAINTING shows a Star with a BLUISH tinge and Wanda resting her face on her hands. A teardrop runs on her glowing cheek.

MAN
Although, the star is still very hot, it gives out blue light.It's core is disturbed with helium, but at the outset it is still fine.That was her exact state of mind.Wanda was disturbed everyday after our frequent fights.The whole theme of the painting is blue.

WOMAN
I liked the blue mood in this one.

MAN
The next one is an absolute genius. You have to see this.

Then the Man brings the NEXT painting.As he brings the painting, there is a sharp shiny glint in his eyes.A glint that can be interpreted as achievement.

MAN
My fourth painting depicting the red-giant star. A red-giant is...well....a RED GIANT. I thought of a lot of red while I painted this one.
(laughs)
Wanda said that the core of the red giant is corrupted with Helium.The Red Giant is not a fully dead star. But it is tortured to death....The exterior of the star becomes thinner and thinner and fades away into the infinte space.

The MAN holds the painting towards the woman.

The THIRD PAINTING contains a lot of red. It shows a RED CORE of a star and an exterior RED fading from the core......At the right end of the painting, the exterior red of the star is mixed with intense blood red. At the extreme right corner, Wanda is depicted. Wanda covers her slit throat which is dripping with blood, as she cries in despair.

The Woman gasps.

WOMAN
(slightly tensed)
How did you visualize this painting ? What was Wanda's reaction , to this !!!

MAN
(sharp)
I slit her throat.I used the blood.

The Woman smiles.

WOMAN
I think it is a very innovative concept.

The Man starts walking near the door and gazes outside.

MAN
(pleased)
You think so? Thanks a lot.
(pause)
For my last painting, I need an idea.Do you have an idea ?

As the man turns around to see the woman's reaction.....

The WOMAN is disfigured.Her face is blood stained. A ring appears on her hand.The WOMAN is WANDA's ghost.

WOMAN
(cackling voice)
Wilfred, we can finish the final painting together.I will set you on fire, I'll scatter your ashes on the canvas and we will make the "Black Hole" painting. Bring your black oil paint and we will use water colors for this.

As she says this, a ball of fire devours the man. He shrieks in agony.......

CAR CAR YELLI NODLI CARR..

Today I planned a different "time pass" for myself enroute office. I started counting the number of cars which had more than 1 passenger, including the driver. Amazingly the count was only one. I might have looked into almost 100 cars today of all makes, colors and most importanly dimensions.

Imagine a single person occupying 5*12 ft of moving space on the road. Compare it with 7.5*40 ft bus which carries around 45 people. Such a waste of space :(. The cars are the main reason for the pathetic traffic situation on Hosur road (infact everywhere). This makes me feel guilty sometimes. TP turning to Frustration???

Out of the 100 odd cars I observed today, I am sure 40 would have found their place in the new MLPL (multi level parking lot) in my office. I feel a rule should be made by my company authorities that they will not allow any car into the campus between 8:00 am and 9:30 am. And no cars will get out between 5:00pm and 9:30 pm.

Will that reduce my travelling ?? An easier solution is to join Mindtree. ;-)

Well the question is should ppl taking car have a different office timings? and will this help decongestion?

If you have played HalfLife, for quite sometime, you dont shoot directly at beasts on the spot. You try to trap them in corners, and if they are standing in front of some containers which contain explosives, you shoot 5 bullets at the containers. The containers explode killing the beast (instead of you directly pumping 500 bullets into the beast).

Okay, that was a passing thought.

To draw a very crude conclusion, thats how, in general, humans learn. They adapt. Thru' out history, they modified / took advantage of the surroundings to screw the other bigger beastier creatures and thereby establishing their supremacy over many other animals.

Well the past few days have been exciting.

I met one person (my immediate Paris manager). We had a great presentation. It was a technical presentation. About the challenges they faced in developing a fantastic wrapper around an RTOS (VxWorks).They called it as "VpWorks" because he and the Vice President of Nortel wrote that wrapper and VP stands for Vice President.I googled the VP's name and I saw a dozen IEEE papers on many subjects. This person is around 43+ years old. But the GLINT and the PASSION in the eye when he talked about the challenges he faced , the funny system of 10 Euros per bug and the spirit was awesome.He refers to his software as "my baby". This presentation nearly charged me up like hell.
He said I love technical presentations....They are refreshing!

I get to read a few daily in the GYM. Now a days the color of some T-shirts make me start moving in a different direction in GYM (though there is not much space around) trying to avoid ready the lousy message again

Back from a birthday party for my 2 year old nephew yesterday. I think it has become very common to host parties with magic shows,games etc.Magicians calling people on stage and cracking jokes .... LOL.... In one of the games I participated (or rather forced onto the stage) , I was told to wear a saree and make a rampwalk. To add a little glitz to the rampwalk, I added a little bit of vulgarity.
Whatever! It was good enuff....As usual , another man asked me "in which college am i studying". I replied "PESIT".

There is absolutely no news from my side to tell. If anyone of you have anything to tell, I am all ears.....My french managers descend to my next cubicle, today. One week, I will be like this:-

Travel and blog ..

The morning travel (can be called a journey too) to office is quite interesting. I get a plethora of thoughts. I always think I would come and blog over here about the same.

But, as soon as I get down the bus all the thoughts are vanished. ( call it the Infy effect ). There are two solutions to this both of which doesnt seem materialise in the near future..

1. To jot down all my thoughts on a paper and then transalate to e-form. (too lazy for this one)
2. Have a laptop with a wireless connection (too expensive). The latest rumor in office is that we shall be given a laptop for the 25th year celebrations. I personally feel this is crap but hope it comes true ;-)

On a complete different note, we had our project party yday. The plan was two-fold - First watch the movie Crash and then dinner at Sahid Sindh Sultan.
Crash was awesome. I liked the movie a lottt.

The dinner was good too. And I came to know from my DM that our account has been reduced from 1400 to 700 pepole. That's a staggerring loss. Anyways not much I can do about it. I was like, so I am one of those unlucky 700 still to be with this account .. hehehe

NorthEast India

Tourism is big money in India.I heard an ad about "NorthEast India Tourism" today on Radio City.

In the North , we can see the Taj Mahal, the forts of the Moghuls and Delhi, is about QutbMinar and the significant number of buildings and monuments related to Indian Republic and all that.

In the west, we have big cities like Bombay & Pune (I had a great one day tour at Bombay) .And there is Goa. Goa is one major tourist destination.

In the East , we have Kolkata. I really dont know , how much of a tourist place Kolkata is, but everybody knows Bengal has a played a big role during the British Raj days. There are a lot of elements of Bong Culture and I think there will be some tourist places there.

If you think of South, you have god's own country "Kerala" boasting lushgreen equatorial , evergreen , hot deciduous forests and small water streams and all that. Karnataka has its share of green mountains , The Ghats and Malnad region.TamilNadu has its awesome share of South Indian Temples.

But one part of India which is largely "unexplored" is the NorthEast India. I am referring to the "semi chingi" region like Tripura, Nagaland, Assam, Manipur,Mizoram, Sikkim and all those states having a sizeable "chingi" population.The state governments of North East India tried their hands at online lottery system (sikkim lottery) etc. to raise revenues.

But tourism is their latest idea, I think it is a good one too!

I heard that visiting the Manas Sarovar is a herculean task. Anybody been there ?Is it in the NorthEast or am I hallucinating ?

I somehow feel that , these states are, kind of, neglected in India as a whole. We dont hear much about them in the news/newspapers/internet and so on....

Sudeep meets Sudeep...

It was my privilege to introduce our won Pseudip to the cine artist Sudeep - alias Kiccha, in the age old, packed to full house, movie hall Uma. It was the first ever Sudeep movie pseudip ( calling sudeep rg pseudip to avoid confusion) was watching. If I remember it correctly pseudip had taken a vow not to watch any of Sudeep's movie, when this able actor's first movie Sparsha had released.

And what a movie pseudip picks up - My Autograph - I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Its a brilliant narration. Sudeep has excelled not only as an actor but as the director too. The narration, is neat (no vulgarity), though a little slow is just awesome. I think the credit goes to the script, the original being in tamil.

Pseudip was impressed by Sudeep's personality too, and we were discussing about his height and Meena shedding down all the flab amongst many other topics. Meena's character is very very impressive. A person who tries to spred happiness inspite being in the abyss of sadness.

Another unique experience was to watch 4 westerners accompanying a group of kids (probably from an NGO or a slum) to the movie hall. Pseudip was quite impressed with this act and was gaga over them. I had to explain him that u just need a sense of touch to achieve this and not to be a super human. I also told him about various friends of ours who are already involved in such an activity - chilli, aks, dhimant, ameya, kaushik, inder, avinash etc etc...

After the movie we went to mitra stores and had badam milk. The only thing that has changed is the price. The badam milk still tastes the way it used to 15 years back the first time when I had it. The weather was awesome, cool breeze with drops of rain. I had to hurry back home as I had to attend a reception. A great evening.

What does a layman like me think about the nuclear deal ?
Well though I am not ecstatic over the whole issue, I was happy.
The reaction from the scientific community says a different story. Scientists are not happy about India's decision to open up the 14 reactors to IAEA scrutiny. They worry that our indigenious technology might be duplicated. On the contrary they are happy that we will be obtaining unlimited enriched Uranium supplies.

My question is by when would the effect of this deal impact the common man ? 2015 ??

one certainly should travel on this road connecting bannerghatta main road to BTM main road. Its an experience. The residents of this are so frustrated that they have kept huge stones on the road (assuming it and not certain) which make the journey even more cumbersome.

Orkut and Brazil

Initially, I thought the name "Orkut" had to do something with "OR"acle Connections or something like that. I came to know that Orkut was designed by a guy named Orkut Büyükkökten. working in google (as a small independent project).It seems google encourages its employees to work projects of personal interest. (And ofcourse employees do that....because, they are that good )

But recently Orkut = Brazil.

Why dont we have great literary figures and poets , like we had Yesterday?Why dont we have Chi.UdayaShanker ?

Look, nobody is born a great literary figure. They become great literary figures because of patronage. You give them encouragement, they'll do well.We know that there is a good market for Kannada movies. But the scriptwriters cater to the "audience" which PAY their money to actually GET UP and COME to the theatres.Your urban Kannada audience is lazy to come to a theatre and watch the movie.


I agree with the guy completely.Instead of bathing on past glories like Gejje Pooje or Masanada Hoovu, we gotta lend our time and extend patronage on a movie industry which kinda looks doomed .This may not be possible for people who are outside Bangalore or Karnataka.But people who are still here, can actually do that!

When I ask my cousins or friends (ofcourse , the ones who speak Kannada), to come for Kannada movies, their expression is :-
Thuu....Neeenu idakella hogtya ? Nange nodakke patience illa....

As far as reading books are concerned, I was never good in reading Kannada.I still take a lot of time to read one full sentence intact.So, I have kind of given up on that.But movies...I dont mind watching a Kannada movie with a black ticket.

Any audience wants movies which they can identify with.Right now , most of the movies we have is for the en machi audience. 18 year old punk rebel boys who are pissed off to attend their college (which is usually , not your elitist college).These 18year olds are usually the so-called "rural class". This was mentioned by the director also . And ofcourse, we have the cult movies for the autodriver audience. (A big percentage of autodrivers are Kannada speaking people)

So what happens to the "urban" Bangalore boy ? Ofcourse, the Bangalore boy who is brought up fully in the city, finds himself more comfortable watching movies which have a John Smith driving a Newyork Yellow Colored Taxi cab , than watch a movie which has ByreGowda riding a tractor carrying cowdung. I dont blame him either.They watch movies where the word "homicide...lieutenant" is used more than "kollay.....circle inspector".Dont you think so?

The movies which make money right now are Hodimaga, machchu, longu audience.....

But the TV scene in Karnataka is making BIG BUCKS.The urban Kannada audience and the uncles and aunties prefer to sit and watch TV teleserials. The teleserial "Mukta" is REALLY good. The director had organized a dialogue to discuss the future plot of the serial. He has been doing that everywhere in Karnataka.Just a few weeks ago, he organized a dialog in Mumbai.I mean, to draw a packed audience in Mumbai about discussing the future plot of a KANNADA teleserial is not a joke. And have a viewership of more than 30 lakh is not a joke.Kudos to him.

But it irks me when shitty somberi urban Kannada audience are glued to their seats and dont bother to watch any Kannada movies.

And to be very frank,I am doubtful that Kannada TV serials can build a "culture". Sitcoms in India have always remained an inferior step-cousin to movies and will continue to be like that for some time to come.

A Sitcom is like a wonderful Saaru anna/ Chapathi. You enjoy it for the moment, later it is forgotten. Because you eat it everyday.

But a movie is like an exotic dish you have someday. Which can actually make an impact.

Other death metal bands bring out inhuman covers.....with no respect to human dignity showing the blood, intestines and all....Very negative image.But people (like the spooky guy carrying a camera in the movie American Beauty) might actually enjoy that....You got to keep an album cover simple yet artistic.

Probably Paresh Rawal speaks Bhojpuri.....(Very Bihari Accent)

If this genius had still been alive....!

I think the single most greatest loss for the Kannada industry is this guy....




Why is he so great ?
Or, rather, why am I such a big fan of him ?

His no nonsense narration and extreme understanding of the old mysore style culture made him script and direct some of the best films in Kannada Industry.And his understanding of the expectations of THEATRE actors in movies was good.

1) Utsav ( I was trememdosuly influenzed by this movie....It is based on Shudraka's Mrichakatika...The best part of Utsav is, the story is based on Merchants , traders and commmon man....unlinke many other dramas written by other Sanskrit writers (like Bhasa or Kalidasa or Baanabhatta) which were usually based on Kings....My unfinished script "The Brahmin" ...it will use the same costumes...based on the same era....Hope it will see the light of the day ;-)...Will keep the readers informed abt it ! )

2) Malgudi Days . This is getting telecasted on a channel called "Pogo".

3) Swamy and his friends
(I was a freaking Swamy , in my school days! )

4) Accident (Really awesome movie)

5) Parameshi Pranaya Prasanga (The name may seem very odd and I dunno what it means. But the characterization is brillaint)

6) Sangliyana 1 & 2 + CBI Shankar (His more "commercial" movies. He just had style and the suave looks and a superb voice.)

7) Ondaanondu Kaaladalli (Again an excellent theme)

8) Nodi Swamy, Naavu Irodu Heege.

9)Auto Raja (For actually identifying & establishing a CULT audience in Kannada movies....viz Auto Drivers!! He also created the concept of "Auto Stands" in key areas of Bangalore)

10) And my favorite "Minchina Ota".....I cant stop raving about this movie...And the prisoners are imprisoned in Belgaum !!! Wow ...Belgaum rocks !! ;-)

And then, I had been to the Jethro Tull Concert. It was simply awesome!!!!


"One two three FOH"

I simply ADORE the British Accent.....It is simply delightful....And the wit of Ian Anderson......
There were two distinct classes of people attending the concert. The oldies (in their 40s and 50s) who actually knew who Jethro Tull was....And the other class who just wanted to attend a damn concert of "somebody"....HMM WHATEVER...The second class consisted of attractive females and their companions.....So I dont wanna complain :-)

He sang many songs of "Aqualung" and the "Thick as a Brick" solo was really satisfying.....
Ian also performed a Mozart medley in a very Jethro Tull style.....
Ian saved his best songs like Locomotive Breath and Mother Goose ...etc for the last......But the disappointing part was Martin Barre , the lead guitarist of Tull was missing........

And one thing :- Thermal and a Quarter (a "namma bangalore" band which , I didnt like ) has REALLY EVOLVED.....The guitarist (Mani) has improved like hell.....
