The Big Brother speaks ....
George Bush declared "Another milestone" has been achieved.I am not sure whether it will have a good effect on Iraq. I am opposed to hanging. A lethal injection is a more dignified way if a society wants to get rid of a criminal...Fighting for breath for 10 minutes....Just think abt it.I keep remembering Iron Maiden's Hallowed be thy name if I think abt hanging.
There is a blog right from Iraq, which says this :
..... Bush has effectively created more terrorists in Iraq these last 4 years than Osama could have created in 10 different terrorist camps in the distant hills of Afghanistan.....
Basically, with this execution, what the Americans are saying is "Look—Sunni Arabs—this is your man, we all know this. We're hanging him—he symbolizes you." And make no mistake about it, this trial and verdict and execution are 100% American. Some of the actors were Iraqi enough, but the production, direction and montage was pure Hollywood (though low-budget, if you ask me).
You can view the blog right here.
And an american blogger who says :
Well good 'ole Bush said that Saddams death would not stop terrorism in Iraq ...
Then what the fuck did we kill him for.?
I agree that Saddam Hussein was a fucked up individual and had no place leading any country and the crimes against his own citizens should not have gone without punishment...........
Ok so does this mean that the US should remove every unsuitable , vicious leader from power and then execute him for crimes agains his people and other peoples. Well then we have lots to do .. . and that being said who is our judge? How many in the world feel that Bush is as big if not bigger terrorist that Saddam ever was? What if they were to invade our country , dipose our government and hold trial and execute our leader for crimes against the Iraqi people?
And cnn says ::
Meanwhile somewhere else far nearer to where I stay
I see this news. This is extremely disturbing...Man...This looks more like a silence of the lambs case.

Time's person of the year.
Mirror mirror on the wall
Who is Time's person of the year, tell all.
This year's time's person of the year, is YOU!
Because, it seems the Time magazine has a mirror (inside a computer).
By You Time means "the citizens of the new digital democracy."
Time says 'You control the Information Age.' By 'control' Time means only that everyone is created equal -- equally entitled to create content for the World Wide Web, which is controlled by neither law nor taste.
There is so much user-generated content on the web.Even though web was moving towards personalization rather than a "repository of uninteractive information" : Youtube, Blogging + Photo have empowered amateurs with some powerful tools.
Infact, I think Youtube is a great concept. People have started auditioning on Youtube to get noticed by Agents, and there is Youtube underground to encourage music. There are blogs where people like me can write whatever you want to.
An article excerpt to summarize this :-
'Who actually sits down after a long day at work and says, I'm not going to watch 'Lost' tonight. I'm going to turn on my computer and make a movie starring my pet iguana? I'm going to mash up 50 Cent's vocals with Queen's instrumentals? I'm going to blog about my state of mind or the state of the union or the steak-frites at the new bistro down the street? Who has that time and that energy and that passion?
''The answer is, you do. And for seizing the reins of the global media, for founding and framing the new digital democracy, for working for nothing and beating the pros at their own game, Time's Person of the Year for 2006 is you.''
In the future, we may have three amateur band members; A singer in Bangalore, drummer in Chennai and one in Somalia trying to jam a session synchronously and creating world music. We will definitely have IP TV and making movies and songs maybe cheaper.
And yes, social networking is here to stay with improvements a lot of checks of security and behaviour and all that.
With so many things happening, I remember Andy Warhol's famous one-liner :-
"In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes." may become quite true.`

And now, Wharton and Harvard !!
Probably this is Lalu's best time as a politician. He is now the best performer of the PM's cabinet. But check this out :-
After giving management tips at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and Bangalore, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad will share the reasons behind the turnaround of the Indian Railways with a group of students from Harvard and Wharton.
And more importantly (from my POV), there are strong rumors that the Indian Railways will purchase the GSMR wireless technology. I had written a very few lines of code and one small feature for the GSMR software and it was a very complex piece of code IU have ever seen/understood in my life. The whole code was developed in 1999-2002 and NOW it is coming to market!
Currently GSMR is used in Germany and other European countries.

Okay I have been accused that I am not evolved* on the blank noise project
by one such blogger.Okay, I am feeling like Prem Chopra now :-)))
I realise that the intentions of the project are noble.
But when it comes to "staring" I differ.
Let me clarify folks, by "eve teasing" I exclusively referred to "staring" of people NOT any other physical contact or some kind of harassment.
Staring can be caused because of many cases. These are the following :-
a) "Staree Z" wants a "Starer X" to notice.
============================================
And some other "Starer Y" else notices and passes a remark to Z causing mental torture to Z.
Whose mistake is it ?
b) "Staree Z" doesnt want "Starer Y" to notice
============================================
There are two cases here :-
Case 1 : If Y is a daydreamer who is in the perpetual habit of staring things while getting lost in thought, and his intention was not to cause discomfort, it is not his mistake
Case 2: If Y purposefully wanted to stare, which may be some kind of offense (yes I completely agree with it). However, here everything depends on the way a Staree handles her/him in this situation. I like analogies. To give an analogy here :-
You have a diamond necklace you want to wear to a party which catches immediate attention. There are 10 robbers on the road who will snatch it if they see it. It is your responsibility to either wear a sweatshirt and walk across to the party or take a gamble with the robbers. What will you do ? Will you make a propoganda to the robbers about your rights of wearing a diamond necklace? .
I may sound caustic, but it is the truth.
*Note 1 : On a lighter side, Speaking of evolution, We call apes as "apes".But just stop and think who evolved from whom and who is aping whom ?
*Note 2 : On a lighter side, Pink Floyd's lyrics like this will be meaningless :-
Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me.
And do I take you by the hand
And lead you through the land
And help me understand
The best I can.

blank noise project
In a new world of equality, in a new www of equality, I found feminists!!!!!!!
Man! These e-Feminists take eve-teasing to a new level.
I stumbled upon a site dedicated to anti-eve-teasing.
Is eve-teasing really so serious ? I think it should be taken sportively and women should know how to handle it.I have never eve-teased, but if a girl is really good looking 100% of the guys cant help staring and sometimes, even , making a remark. It is pretty natural (even the girls know it) , right ?
This is the URL BLANK NOISE PROJECT for the anti-eve teasing squad.
I wrote a comment for them. I am an anti-feminist and I believe in equality.
My comment was written in the spur of a moment. It ran something like this :-
Hmm.I stumbled upon this website by chance.
All I can say is , I differ on many view points here.
This is a classic case of sensationalizing a whole issue as common as "eve teasing". It is ubiquitous and it is going to be there as long as humans exist.
"Eve teasing" and looking is more of a biological behaviour rather than a societal one.
Picture this:-
If ANY OF YOU "harassed girls" were a GUY ,you wouldnt start such a project, because you would be one of the guys teasing a girl. It is natural.
The very nature of eve-teasing is analogous to a like a "clap" which requires two hands. If you contribute and act as a superior species, you tend to get teased more.
By promoting such ideas, by saying powerful words like "trauma" and upsetting the "mental health of women", you are just taking a small thing to ridiculous proportions....
But I am sure there are many guys around there, who have different views.
Whatever! Women are pampered.Thats all I can say.

Killing the fun..
The whole concept behind devising exams, is to kill the fun of learning .. :D ..
The mood is quite gloomy around the campus.. The weather is awful too.
Everyone is locked in room cramming every bit to give their best in the next 4 days. Suddenly, the competitive atmosphere has brought the coldness in people and atomosphere.
No one smiles or talks .. everyone is running around.. even in the bathrooms .. 2 min baths ..
Heard that the library is overflowing .. u c reading people everywhere.. quite sadddddddd... 4 more days .. end to the drama for me atleast .. some people will have one more exam .. :D ..
A friend of mine who was to be on campus today, gave a miss .. uhhhhhhhh...
The sun isnt shining anymore on the UST campus.. exam time u c ..

Beta blogger
The alpha-q blogger switched to the new "beta" blogger and the result is stupid. They have made the login very cumbersome. For me, I have to first login in the blogger account and later in the gmail account.
Grr.
I have this bad habit of trying something new without thinking abt the consequences. Or sometimes I am just too woolheaded. This was for the dialogues on the Yamaha yesterday

Been to Casino Royale and boy! I liked the movie. Especially the "chemistry" between James Bond and his love Vesper Lynd. The new James Bond is good with a short hair cut and the stunts are pretty good (especially the one that happens in Madagascar). And the suits are perfect to the T.
Hmm. Eva Green is a good choice. I was surprised to know that she was a French actress. Her accent and even her lip movement sounded/looked prudently british.
Well,I suggest you have a look at BV's review over here

Colorful Language?
"For years flying has been the preserve of rich fuckers. Now everyone can afford to fly."
This was a quote from a CEO of an airline. This wouldnt have been termed as "colorful" if a layman said it. It would have been called vulgar. Nonetheless, with so many ass-lickers in the planet, they would term it as "coloful".
O'Leary makes colourful and extravagant use of the English language
When a layman speaks something like this, I am sure it will not be called as "Colorful" language!!
Have a look at some of these quotes by Michael O'Leary, the CEO of RyanAir.
n the slightly wider Airbus A320 fuselage: Ive heard a lot of horseshit about a wider fuselage. I've yet in 15 years in this industry to meet one passenger who booked his ticket based on that. The seats have been wide enough and the aisles have been wide enough for passengers
On rivalry with British Airways: "There's too much 'we really admire our competitors'. All bollocks. Everyone wants to kick the shit out of everyone else. We want to beat the crap out of BA. They mean to kick the crap out of us."
My favorite was this :-
"It feels like Laurel and bloody Hardy are working at the Department of Transport coming up with these security measures."

Weekend
As another weekend passes by, I notice a pattern in my thought. I keep "getting the big picture" EXCLUSIVELY during the weekends ONLY."Getting the big picture" is a synonym for stirring up under-currents for your inner peace. This symptom doesnt happen on a weekday.I guess I am too busy to notice it.So, is it better to get "lost in the details" and forget "the big picture".
One part of my mind says Why not ?
Another part says immediately Why, "why not?" ?
Okay, now moving on, I saw two movies. One was Dhoom2 and the other was "The Shining".I liked them both.I want to write a serious review on both of these, but I guess I am too lazy to start thinking about. I am still thinking about a necklace problem which I saw morning in the topcoder website. I wonder how the "coders" get answers in 1 minute 15 seconds. Phew.I have to pep myself up for tomorrow. Some josh is lost..
Monday morning blues have started at Sunday evening itself. Irli....

Some people are good !!!!
There was a message which ran something like this in our bulletin board.
If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse. For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321. The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine.
The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to The robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you. This information was recently broadcasted on TV and it states that it is seldom used because people don't know it exists.
I thought it was a brilliant idea. Until I saw this awesome reply :-
I dont think so....
what if the PIN string is a palindrome
for ex: 1221
Hmm whatever...

Software Lab ?
I really dont get or cannot fathom the thought that software is written in a "lab".
Atleast that term maybe hesitantly applicable for companies for Google, IRL etc. where they are not much worrried abt "outcome of a work with strict deadlines"
Otherwise the word "lab" SHOULD have a strong association with an academic institution.
But typically services industires like Infy/Accenture write software for dail and commercial use.Such a software is not a software written in a " R&D lab".It is written in an office. It is a pity that the business-men still sell the idea like we have worldclass software labs in our facility.
Look, what I mean is, if you are writing a software for a PARAM super-computer, or a CRAY machine or maybe some hardware "device" that is not exactly as "household" commodity as a computer, then the word "software lab" is fine, because, the device itself is not common-place. But a services company like Accenture opening a "Lab" (to create Desktop/Server/Web applications)....ha! it doesnt make sense.
Do people who work in offices / banks call the place they work as a "lab" ?
They are making the word "lab" very hackneyed and rather abusing that word.....software is no longer some hifi thing.
So articles like Accenture to open a lab in Bangalore sounds like a joke.

The Monk : Im gonna get out of the monastery.
Sailor : Why, Yes! Just sense the breeze, I can give you the sail.
But what happened ?
The Monk : The merchants and the businessmen. They ate my fruits.I have to wait for the next harvest.
Sailor : Hahaha....So what next ?
The Monk : The joker/vagabond, the belle with an aquarium with a goldfish and the goldsmith with the gifted hammer look unhappy. The intruder keeps irritating the shit out of me.
Sailor : The seas are afresh and you are not sea-sick for the moment. So do you want my ship ?
The Monk : Well.....hmmmmm.....
PS : all the characters are real-life inspired

Things
have started to lessen and I am back to a day where I have to do something new. Meanwhile things have been pretty good on weekends. Met Tejaswi on the weekend , took the tickets for Casion Royale , however we could not go for the movie....It was damn too late and the Castle Lager at Ruby TUesday was awesome....
My music concert took place....We did pretty well...(we got a good applause!!), but there were some initial problems of tempo .
And, I saw a fly sitting on my desk today and I started to wonder how a fly flies.
I had seen a program on TV yesterday on National Geographic regarding flight of birds....Superb.
But, the flight of an insect is very different from the flight of a bird. They can stop mid air, fly backwards, very fast and very quickly change directions..... Modelling an aircraft which will flap its wings like a fly and fly like a fly might look impossible. So fast and so manoeuverable. The most obvious application of this research is the engineering of extremely small micro air vehicles.Check this wikipedia article on Insect flight

MBA ...common sense ??
There are a lot of accusations about business admin being an art and not science... And also that it is an application of common sense .. HMMMMMMM...yeah... for genius even nuclear physcis, computational theroy will be common sense ..(Good Will Hunting)..
What I have seen in the past 3 months is a lot of technical stuff.. not realated to comp sci, but business. There is a lot of content in MBA, and the most amazing thing is it can be seen daily newspapers. It is a different fact that not many of us understand all the jargons in it .. sometimes if we do, we do not know the mechnaism behind the jargon...
MBAs are not the best enterprenuers .. Yeah agreed.. cos after this course you know so many risks of running a business, you dare not venture out into anything .. heheh... if Gates/Dell had done an MBA course ... I think they would have joined IBM/HP.. instead of creating Microsoft and DELL respectively... MBA gives a scary picture about business.. you learn a lot... and lot of common snense ?? naaaa.... it depends if you want to learn common sense or technical stuff..
ps:-accnt exams at 2.. havent reviewed the content of this blog

Jammin'
I am jamming for a song...I play bass on the keyboard (heheh) ...Last minute addition...Since the guys at our office could not find a basssist, I was asked....I said I will try....My first impression is playing with speakers music and a fast tempo is quite difficult....But the rapper and the drummer are really good...I somehow manage to survive the tempo....I need a formal training antha obvious aagi gothhagathaa ide...
We are playing a Malayasian Tamil Remix song..The original was by Illayaraja..It is pretty cool....You can check it (remix version) out (with speakers) here

(via my slice of pizza)
This is the wikipedia entry for associate prof.Erik Demaine. So whats so special abt that?anybody can create a wiki for anyone, that is not the point. Just look at his age and look at what he is doing. Look for the age at which he completed his bachelor's. He joined as faculty at MIT at the age of 20!!!I mean its 20..and we are talking of being faculty at MIT..
I guess when he started teaching, he must have been younger than most people in his class..hehe..
some people are unbelievably good at what they are doing..
His homepage here.

Prof Muhammad Yunus
Thanks to Nobel foundation, this man is famous today. But in my MBA, people do not talk about him fervently ( neither would people in any MBA ) as they talk about Goldman Sachks, UBS, Merryl Lynch, McKinsey, BAH .......... baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Its all about money in here ..
is that is because most of us are in debt and we need to recover it asap .. ?? no is because we chose it .. its because our mentality is to make more money ..
We have been bred and buttered to be that way .. and its hard to change ..
but I think I am proud of most of my classmates (pesit) .. most of them realize the value of giving back to the society .. I found more people like that in Infy .. all of these ppl are contributing in some way or the other ..
I wish to see a Nobel peace prize winner.. :) .. I hope ..someone succeeds ..
Someone wants to do a Phd in Macro and micro economics ?? instead of accnts and finance or computer science/electronics ?

MAD MAD WORLD ..
Scenario 1
An IIM graduate is recruited by a US MNC company for business analyst position..
he meets an ex-outsourcing company chap as his colleague who has 4 years work-ex in outsourcing company(infy wipro tcs etc etc) and joined US-MNC because his company to return to india
Scenario 2
A Top-tech school Master in Comp Sci guy is rejected by Amazon after the 7th round interview.
An SE from an outsourcing company gets his onsite chance without even knowing the abc's of UNIX (ls -l command) :D .. data mining is a far-fetched concept..
Scenario 3
A guy with 3-4 years work-ex in SAP (ERP/CRM) working as an onsite co-ord is replaced by a fresh IIM grad as onsite grad without any previous experience ..
Scenario 4
An IIM grad is hired as a PM - on technical experience whatsoever .. however people with 6 years work-ex inside the company are not promoted ...
there are innumerable scenarios like these ..
I leave a US onsite 2 years .. for an MBA ..to gain knowledge as I find my job borring .. but at the end of the day I have to come back to work.. what will I settle for ?? Will I have the tenacity to carry on debt for a long-time ?? Will I compromise for an oridary IT post, or will chase my dream (which I obviously do not know :) ??)
What will Richie do ?? What will laks, sudeepa, hebbar do ??
What will all the people who have their legs in two different boats do ??
Is teju happy after is M-tech adventures (leaving behind yahoo shares) .. back to terrawiz ..? How is Akshay ? How is Archana ??
how is Kummi doing ??
hows Dhi only one ??
How about the US dreamchasers ?? Raghu, Harsha, satya, kartic, shayam, sod, sibin..
are they happy with extra bucks, extra debts, with corn-flakes and tropicana jucie instead of idli-vada
How about guys jumping domains ?? from mech to IT ? or IT to finance ?? (lv, suri)
Is it perfectly all right to continue a normal life?? Is it not borring ??
why do we search for adventures ?? Is it really exiciting ??
Are we insane in a rational way ? or are we irrationally sane ??
there is chaos everywhere ..
if u look at it optimistically there is sense everywhere ..
does umpteen non-sensical moves packaged and projected in a sensical way makes sense ??
Is this the effect of accounting exam due on Sunday ?? or the mba effect ??
I think mba just is a 2 month experience till now .. it cant have such a profound effect .. I have been questioning myself from 1st pu about various aspects of life .. before that I just did things .. read, play, eat, sleep, never thought ..
ever since i started thinking my life has become miserable .. or more +vely meaningful .. I discover more questions .. and a very few answers.. I started reading parva .. well that shows that life is a trade.. ( but I am still not convinced ).. evreyone trades something or the other.. passion, compassion, love, hate, good, evil .. thats the author's view again ...
let me get back to accounting .. :D ..
ps:- do ignore the grammatical and spelling mistakes ..no time/enthu to review .. this applies only if u happen to read this blog ..:)
dont worry I am perfectly alright :) .. have had some wonderful food and sleep and life is very much normal .. squash, friends, movies .. money ..

Rescuing - The adda
The owner, Neo had a very good vision when creating this blog .. 5 friends to share their experiences, day in and day out ..
Now, this blog has not been updated for a while .. and its a pity ..
I really am apologetic, as I am one of the reasons for this dismal state..
Richie, Gnaani and teju are mincing words on their own blog..
I am trying the same on my assignments and exams :D ...
and sudeep probably on Linux x.x.x .. using C/ assembly code ..
Lets get back folks .. on ADDA ..
'baa baaro baaro ranadheera '
'baa baara preetiya saradara'

Saddam Hussain sentenced
Saddam Hussain is sentenced to death by hanging by the Iraq's highest judicial body. Watch the video here.
None of the big leaders like Bush or Blair made a comment/statement. They left this tough job to the Foreign Affairs Ministry. The jackals.

Departed Rating :: * * * + 1/2
I liked the story of "The Departed". But it is not your conventional gangster movie (like Goodfellas which was directed by Scorcese, before) and all the actors have done a great job. By great job, I mean, there is one scene where the gangster boss, Jack Nicholson, gets angry. That really shook me! Leo DiCaprio shines(I'm seeing a pattern here. He was good in Ganags of NY, he was even better in The Aviator and he is really damn good in The Departed) and Jack Nicholson is brilliant (as usual) and Matt Damon plays a dishonest police cop with a facade which seems believable.
The movie starts wout with a memorable quote by Jack Nicholson which goes something like this :-
I don't wanna be a product of my environment, I want my environment to be a product of me.
The synopsys is pretty complicated. There are no sub-plots as such, but the basic plot is pretty convoluted.
There are two men who are on the opposite sides of the law in the other side. That is, there is a "gangster-spy" in the polic department and a "police-spy" in the gangster department. The police know that they have a spy in their midst, and same is the case with the gangsters, who know that there is a cop.The rest is upto you to figure out.
The movie has an undeniable Scorcese touch to it. The blood, the rage , the violence and the reliance on top actors for the delivery of the script.
But there is one mistake (from my POV). The film runs overtime after the highdrama climax.Whatever, a good movie to catch if you have some time during your weekend.
DOnt go to The Forum Multiplexes. You WONT get the tickets and everytime I end up getting disappointed.I managed to get in Innovative Multiplex. From now on, I will start anti-advertising for Forum! hahah...

Marty's back
I personally loved GoodFellas and Taxidriver.I was stunned by Leonardo DiCaprio's acting in the "Aviator".
There were already great reviews about the latest offering by Martin Scorcese(dont mind the spelling, if it's wrong) by Venky and some other US folks.
So I am going to watch the Departed this week, for sure.
Leonardo DiCaprio is getting better day by day. I have high expectations on this movie.

Cisco is coming to Bangalore
And the point is that it is a Corporate headquarters!. Not a development centre.
Now Cisco plans on consolidating its operations in a new campus and locating one of its top US executives there--Wim Elfrink, the senior vice-president for customer advocacy, who reports directly to CEO John Chambers. This is the first time that a major US technology company has established a corporate headquarters in India, and it's yet another sign of the growing importance of India on the world technology map.
Check this out.
And other on the tech campuses part, Google is opening an office in proper NY. I think it will cost millions of dollars!!!

I don't know how this post is gonna end, but it is definitely gonna start with what is happening at work.....To some extent it is adrenaline, fun etc....But since it is huuuge, you end up losing energy by the end of the day , too tired even to turn on the stereo as you drive through the madness of a 8:45 dry and cold night of Bangalore. I dont want to remind myself of details and get a gut-wrenching feeling.
Okay.Stop.
Met rajaneesh on the weekend and he quoted a memorable truth:-
It is not what or how much hardwork you do at work, but it is how important the work is to the higher ups, which guarantee visibility. Example, you may be doing a trivial thing but that trivial thing might be very important.
And we saw "Don" the movie. Don is good, but waaaaaay to sophisticated and heavily inspired by Hollywood flicks. I would prefer the lambu and great looking Amitabh Bachchan in a Mafatlal suit looking damn smart, in some car chase in UP in India than SRK sitting in Paris/Malayasia.The Don of the yesteryears had a clunky charm, but this new Don is really very sophisticated. Zeenat Aman in the nurse outfit looked oh-so-gorgeous and Priyanka Chopra is okay. But Kareena Kapoor is really wasted, and she has not taken her looks seriously for this movie, and cant look like a vamp with oomph owing to weight problems.Ish Koppikar looks very un-Indian with the makeup, but some loose outfits could have been avoided. On the acting frontier, except for SRK, well chuck it. Screenplay is definitely good and a very good job of an adaptation. And Farhan Akhtar is a good auteur but he cannot understand the pulse of Bollywood. Period.
Meanwhile, I also checked out a restaurant called "Herbs and Spices" near Innovative Multiplex. It is an old British Officer's house turned into a restaurant (well it is more like a farmhouse, with some anglo-indians playing good jazz music). Very limited choice for veggies, but it was good continental food, there.
Goose @ Herbs and Spices
And I have to pull up my socks. This is a very important thing. (For memory).
Apart from that, today is Kannada Rajyotsava , yellarigu hardhika shubhashayagaLu.This is also a holiday at Bangalore.
And yeah, for regular blog readers, once the work thingy gets going smooth, I will be as regular as ever :-)

exams ..
i have two exams to write this week, and I am not enthu about it .. the only good part is the exams carry only 45% ..that means I cant fail unless ..................
I remember my exam days back in engineering,
--the 15 day marathon,
--xerox notes, from malleshwaram, hanumanthnagar and bsk 3rd stage,
--long nights at tejus place ( long because of discussions .. politics , life, career, girls ..everything except studies) ..
--chakku troubling us by call at 11:30 pm and psyching us out by claiming he had completed
--teju's tea and kummi's biscuits
--morning breakfast by teju's mom
-- sleeping the whole day just to wake up for another night
-- the gathering at sudeep's palce at 8 in the morning for the final sharing and ofcos filter coffee :)
-- nair not coming into the exam hall inspite he being on campus ..last minute cramming
-- chilli's record breaking exam writing 2.25 hours max
-- followed by early exits from Avinash (peer pressure), Harsha and Carren
-- Nair bothering swati for answers
-- Tejaswi's recording breaking additional papers, matched equally by Sumanth
-- Discussions following exam and Avinash caliming the question wasnt there
-- sudeep misinterpreting (minimum 2 from first section as atleast 2 from first section)
-- me copying a major step in Eng mech derivation from NAIR
-- lokesh always saying 'adhu neen andikondange easy illa' and HM bashing him up ..
-- juice after the exam at Anand's juice counter
-- occassional beats
-- Dil Chahta hai after one of the exams .. (me satya teju and naga) and sudeep not participating bcos its a hindi moive
-- Maiya colleting notes for the next exam alreay
-- Carren using the F word incessantly accusing all the question paper setters as bastards ..
-- Sandeep micro managed chits and Nair photo-copying a chit - truly innovative .. though not using it to any advantage (I think internal times)
-- Me not studying half of Computer architecture and pysching out the last minute ..and maiya explaining pentium architecture..
and the list goes on and on and on
ohh .. My handicapped stage and climing 2 stories for writing exams and Sumanth picking/dropping me from home (thank u richie) ..
Memorable ..

Don Remake ?
Everybody is keen to pull down the remake of Don. But my sis gave a good review for it and I am eager to watch this movie. It seems that it doesnt follow the old movie completely and I have predicted the ending. I want to verify it!
I will write a review as soon as I see it.
Meanwhile
I had this dream, today morning. Most of my dreams are nonsensical and it features me falling from a tall cliff or rocks with hands spread out or I being attacked by a dog with razor sharp teeth. But this one was a Hollywood movie with soldiers and all that.I wont get into the details. But I could interpret this stupid dream.(For my memory's sake)
Ridiculous....Thats all I can say.
UPDATE :: My guess is correct! Hehehe Farhan Akhtar that was a good one...But it was easy....hehehe

DTM (Dont touch me)
The DTM experience has been humbling.
It has humbled me and made a tomato soup out of me.
I am stripped of all my pride....Ufff....Lord, I hope it gets completed as soon as possible.

The Volvo burns
Bangaloreans are notorious for burning buses. Is this a behaviour restricted only to India?
: A speeding BMTC Volvo bus ran amok, ploughed through a crowded bus shelter near the HAL Helicopter Division on the busy Airport Road and knocked down an autorickshaw and two bikes, leaving two dead and 20 injured on Tuesday afternoon. An irate mob torched the killer bus, a bike and hurled stones on a police jeep and brought life to a halt for hours.
People stand on the bus bays and a running bus stops in the middle of a road because he doesnt want to risk losing the road by actually stopping in the bus bay. As a result :-
Lots of jams at bus bays
And one Volvo zooms into a bus bay (where people are standing) and just rolls its wheels on 18 of them.Sad news.

Ink Pen
When I was little, ball point pens were NOT to be used for classes 5th standard to 9th standard.
A hero pen was 30Rs. and was very popular. There were two types of inkpens. The ones which had a nib like this and the hero pens which had a nib like this.
We used to play with the BRIL inkbottles and our hands , books, shorts were full of blue or black ink stains.
And there were was one game. It was about dropping blots of ink on a paper and folding the paper and producing patterns.
I remembered this game because of a very well made video based on the same fact.
Really creative video.Check it out here

House of the rising sun
This song is an American folk song .
I never knew American Histroy was old as having a "folk song". But I love this song so much.
But from 200 years from now, when we'll all be gone, this will become a folk blog. This will be folk literature. I love to be a part of a folklore, am I alone , in this aspect ?
And guess what ? The folk song has "jeans" mentioned in it.
It is abt a prostitute repenting about going to the "House of the Rising Sun"
And House of the Rising Sun is a euphemism for a Brothel.
It is kick ass, especially the Jimi Hendrix version. Some vodka in a dim lit club will make a memorable weekend.....
However, the version of the British version by the "Animals" is really very good, you can check it out. You can check the voice of the lead singer. Really effortless vocals.
Here is the song for you guys to enjoy!!!

What do the VCs want ?
I found an article which asserts my belief that VCs (atleast in the Silicon Valley, USA) are not a bunch of people who just want to see their monies double in the next three years, but it is also about passion in technology and need and necessity of good products.
The good VCs are full of ideas and you can easily make out from this article.
The ideas are mindblowing.....I dont know how they get these sorts of ideas.

Let's dance li'l stranger
I just LOVE this video (made by mixing an old FRENCH film ) with a song by the band "Nouvelle Vague".
The video just blends perfectly with the song and the female voice is very naughty......
Very very dreamy and romantic.
Check out the video with your speakers on here

What the hell ???!!!!
Does Salman Khan want to create a career harakiri ...It seems this is his latest picture where he plays the female form of Kalki avatar.
Okay, I am dazed by this image. I am SURE that this movie will be a hit. Will Salman Khan remove his shirt in the movie ? That is an interesting question.

Bandh Update
I had just been out to check whats happening on the roads because of the bandh.
The Bandh seems to have generated a lukewarm response.
For people living outside Bangalore, The bundh is being organised to protest against the Centre’s stand on the Maharashtra-Karnataka boundary dispute. It is because of the Belgaum dispute.
It seems development of North Karnataka towns like Belgaum and Gokak have been eclipsed because all the money has gone into South of Karnataka like Bangalore , Mandya, Mysore development.
Hmmm....I really dont know much on this issue, so I dont have an opinion on this.
But instead of stalling business and life and crippling day to day activites by organizing bandhs, they can think of a better way.
Oh, by the way, Cable TV is playing ONLY KANNADA.

Deaf Leopards
I am still laughing.
Well actually I came across a site which posted Funny lyrics (Some of them were actually not heard properly). Some of them are HIlarious !!!!!
Check them Out :-
REM - Losing my Religion
The real lyrics were:
That's me in the corner,
That's me in the spotlight.
But I misheard them as:
Let's pee in the corner,
Let's pee in the spotlight.
Smells like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
The real lyrics were:
With the lights out it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contaigous
Here we are now entertain us
But I misheard them as:
With the salad its less dangerous
Here we are now with potatoes
With a mars bar, and potatoes
And some salad and potatoes
Michelle , Ma belle - The Beatles
The real lyrics were:
Michelle ma belle,
sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble,
tres bien ensemble.
But I misheard them as:
Michelle ma belle,
some say monkeys play piano well,
play piano well.
You can check out all the fun here.

i AM BACK
"i" is a miniscule - thats me , AM BACK - is a big phenomenon, I such a lazy ass, I truly deserve an applause to get back here...
the title is inspired by Arnold :) we have two austrians in our class and one of our profs always tries to make pun of Austrians by referring to Arnold. Others do by referring Austria as German sub-continent.
the Indians are collectively called the Indian-mafia.. not sure about y and they kick-ass make fun of our Bollywood movies ..
in short.. the last month I have met some crazy guys and am having fun..
i am confused what I should write about .. u guys certainly do not want to hear about MBA shittt and my world is just my campus now ..

Over the air
Well, as far as I know, there are 6 radio stations in Bangalore. And for the moment, it looks good. But can a broadcasting business pay off ?
I liked all the siz radio stations and it makes driving , a pleasure (abt 70% of the time).
Here are the radio stations :-
102.9 - Vividh Bharathi/ Aakashwaani or whatever
The old legacy style programming and presentation continues and sometimes it is good. But I seriously doubt, who will listen to Raitharige Salahe kind of programs in the city
101.3 - FM Rainbow
Predominantly Kannada and Hindi songs. It is miles better than 102.9. The signal strength is weak and the Radio Jockey programming is very mediocre. But I guess , it caters to the older folk. I am not saying that I am very young. hehehe.
98.3 - Radio Mirchi
The RJ's try to speak some form of Yuppie Kannada and I hate that...I can imitate some of them...Although a lot of money has been invested in this channel it is going down because of the RJs. They are not that good.
94.3 - Radio One
I like this channel because of a right amount of Kannada and Hindi songs.Kannada is definitely given a good coverage here (in the programming and the RJing) and I feel the RJs are good (but not as good as Radio City),
91.0 - Radio City
They have the best RJs no doubt abt that. Bangalore's oldest Privately owned Radio station. But the ads are very frequent.THey play Hindi , Kannada and English songs.English songs in the night. The interviews are all very well planned.
91.9 - Radio Indigo, MY FAVORITE!
Only English! The whole channel is only english
They dont use words like "sakkath" or "soni kudi" or "praaji" or whatever! The RJs are pretty experienced.
But I am not sure whether this radio station will survive....Nobody will feel like advertising abt "Kaveri Silks Emporium" in a channel where the latest Mark Knopfler single is being released. By the way , they also have a good website. Check it out here.

Ramblin' Woman
FADE IN:
A huge biker drives a Harley Davidson at a constant speed on a seemingly endless road . The biker is in black leathers and wears a huge helmet with a black glass .
BIKER
(NARRATING)
It is the fifth day of August.
Just five years ago on the same day, I married Angela.
She was like my chopper.
"Smooth" is the word... I could see the sun in her eyes on the day of my marriage.
The wind howls, and the sound of the Harley fills the air.
BIKER
(NARRATING)
My marriage with Angela didnt last long. I loved her.She loved me.She hated my temper and carelessness.I thought she was crazy. After she left me, I shaved my head and took my chopper and rode straight away, down South....... I hoped nothing would go wrong again.
BIKER
(NARRATING)
Old Barney told me to do things in MY WAY.I thought abt old dead Barney's words seriously for the first time.I wanted to go on long rides ...To understand lives , people and the roads. And ofcourse, for the kicks.
BACKGROUND MUSIC : A Jazz musician mutters in the background.
The day fades into a night. The biker disappears into the darkness.
EXT. SOMEWHERE DOWN SOUTH - NIGHT
GEORGE, a STURDY MAN in his thirties walks with his head facing the ground. He sees a Harley Davidson bike and he asks for a hitch.
The BIKER (from the prev scene) stops the bike.
GEORGE
Thanks mate. My name is George. You going to New Orleans ?
The BIKER doesnt speak. The biker just nods a "yes".
George feels his pockets, to take some money out.
GEORGE
I dont have money mate. I am a pig farmer and I sold my pigs. Debt is horrible thing.I just need some help. Can you drop me at New Orleans, please ?
BIKER
Money aint necessary mate.Come along.
GEORGE
I can give you my blanket , The cold is devilish. We can rig up a tent nearby.
BIKER
Not necessary. Just jump along buddy.I will drive to Orleans in the night.
George gets on the bike and the biker starts. There is no wind and the night is really calm.
A beautiful night.
GEORGE
Whats your story, mate ?Looks like you are travelling for the kicks ?
BIKER
Well, it is the same old story. My wife left me.
GEORGE
Hahaha...So why you goin' to New Orleans buddy.
BIKER
I will be in time for the Mardi Gras Carnival .i've heard they have a real good time there, now ......
(PAUSE)
BIKER
Why did you sell your pigs, mate ?
GEORGE
Well...Thats a big lesson I learnt. As a pig farmer, I have noticed that there are two types of pigs. The little piggies which wriggle in the dirt and the bigger piggies who give loans to farmers like us. I got tricked by the bigger piggies. So I had to sell my little piggies.
BIKER
Thats true. Everywhere, there are a lot of "pigs".
GEORGE
By the way, do you take coke ?Marijuana? I have got it tucked up from Mexico.
BIKER
I dig that sh*t !!! I knew you were not an ordinary guy! It's been a while since I have doped.
BIKER
Where have you kept the dope?
GEORGE
In my bag.
BIKER
(NARRATE)
Old habits just die hard. I wanted to take my acid trip , right there
BIKER
(TO GEORGE)
I'll stop my chopper and we will have it.
BIKER
(NARRATE)
And thats how, GEORGE and I got down. I cant forget that night.Little did I know that it was George's last day in this world.
A LOUD BANG! of a gunshot is heard.
EXT. NEXT MORNING - DAY
George is dead with a shot on his forehead as the biker, standing, wearing his helmet, says a prayer in front of George.
BIKER
(NARRATE)
I had to kill George. He was a pig.I found Angela's photo in his wallet. I couldnt control my temper.I hated the man who snatched the woman from me without my knowledge.
BIKER
(NARRATE)
I also found out that she lived somewhere nearby.
BIKER
(NARRATE)
Suddenly I no longer felt like going to New Orleans.I drove back to say Angela , I loved her.
EXT. ANGELA's HOUSE - DAY
Angela is a pretty blonde who is just perfect.
Well. Not quite.
She sits facing the PHOTO of a red-haired woman, RACHEL with tears in eyes.
The biker enters and removes her helmet.
The biker is a WOMAN. She is Rachel.
ANGELA
How have you been, Rachel ?
Angela notices Rachel's shaved head.
ANGELA
You look different.
BIKER/RACHEL
I have been quite well.
(PAUSE)
BIKER/RACHEL
But I killed your "George".
Angela is stunned.
ANGELA
How did you know George ?
BIKER/RACHEL
He found me.
There is silence.
ANGELA
Are you going to kill me ?
BIKER/RACHEL
No.
BIKER
(NARRATE)
I had to do some explaning to Rachel. And I stayed there for a long time...
Was listening to some songs (Les Beatles) and I came up with this write-up. Just want to dedicate it to my oldest arch-rival, VHS. This is very much her style and influenzed by her "football and goalie" story which she put up in the "Blossoms" magazine.

I think the future is 3D Desktop
I had a look at the snapshots of the Windows Vista Desktop Environment called "Aero".Aero is a 3D desktop environment with transparent rendering.I also had a look at Sun's "Project Looking glass".
The question which is currently hitting me, is , can a 3D desktop Environment be a hit.
For me, the answer is a resounding YES.
This can be explained by a very simple analogy. Although the 2-D DOS (like Dave, Prince of Persia) games have their own fan-following for their simplicity, they were gradually replaced by the 3-D games.
Wolf-3d was one of the first 3-D games with a lot of demand for "graphics card" and memory during those days. But it changed the course of gamer programming, gaming engine, and 3D software started to demand hardware changes, which resulted in graphics card revolution of sorts.
A 3D desktop environment will be a delight to work on. I hope it will be affordable for companies and homes. So , your desktop will look like a bookshelf, with "books" and each window being a "book".
I found two desktop environments , through forwards, of Windows Aero Desktop Environment and the other one, being the Sun MicroSystems 3D environment. I personally liked the screenshots of the Sun Microsystems environment.
I dunno if the Linux KDE guys have taken such an initiative for rendering 3D environment on linux.
Windows Vista snapshot Couldnt find many snapshots of Aero, though
The unbelievable software and snapshots of Project Looking Glass!
Have a look at the movie clip also!

Not mine.....But it has come out well
EXT. ROAD - NIGHT
Divya and Rajani (two pretty women in late twenties) keep walking briskly. They look kinda scared, as they walk really quickly.
DIVYA
Is he still following us ?
Rajani quickly turns back to see to hear quick footsteps.
RAJANI
Yes. he is following us.
DIVYA
Our luck is really rotten. The apartment is atleast 15 minutes and there is no bloody soul on this road.
RAJANI
We can find someone near the Whiskey bar. Will we face the guy and deal with him. We are two against one.
DIVYA
No. He was asking weird questions all the way during our journey in the train.
RAJANI
Did you look at his eyes. They looked really creepy and like blackholes.
DIVYA
Oh gud lord! Help us.
RAJANI
Now shut up and keep walking fast.
DIVYA
Actually when he was talking to me , he kept spraying spit everywhere and it was flowing his cheeks. That really freaked me out.
RAJANI
Now shut up and dont scare the hell out of me....
DIVYA
Gimme your mobile. I will call Ajit.
Rajani opens her handbag. No mobile! Divya looks at the bag in dismay.
DIVYA
Madam....You continue to be forgetful all your life. I am going to change my roommate NEXT MONTH.
RAJANI
Shut up. I might have forgotten my mobile a couple of times. You just need a small reason to explode against me.
DIVYA
Look, if we keep quarelling like bitches, the fool will catch up with us.
As they continue to walk, they see the lights of the bar.
DIVYA
Thank gawd!! The bar is still open. We may find some kinda help there.
A BLACK SANTRO is parked in front of the bar.
RAJANI
Hey! Thats your friend Sujith's car. Right ?
DIVYA reads out the registration number aloud.
DIVYA
M1064 - Thats him.
RAJANI
That guy...You had once considered going out with him right ?
DIVYA
Yes. He'd been rather persistent and I'd been put off....But he still had a bit of a crush on me and he mails once awhile and goes totally senti. I feel confident he would help.
RAJANI
Great! Some help for us.
DIVYA
I am gonna act like a damsel in distress and probably have to tolerate frequent phonecalls for a month or two. Thats okay.
EXT. BAR - NIGHT
Sujith (late twenties) is totally drunk with two of his pals as he heads for his car.
SUJITH
Bye guys! May the force be with you.
RAJANI and DIVYA stand near his car. Sujith is surprised. Suddenly the slur escapes him and he is fully alert.
SUJITH
Divya ? What are you doing here ?
DIVYA
Sujith, How are you ? Can you do me a favour. There's somebody tailing me. Can you sort him out?
SUJITH
Where is he ? What does he look like ?
Suddenly a big shriek is heard. A real howl like a werewolf. The footsteps sound hard and frequent.
DIVYA
Thats him. He has been following us throughout.
SUJITH
We will try.
DIVYA
Thanks a lot. Sujith, our place is just a few roads away from here. We have had a real nasty time. We will catchya later. Bye and thanks.
SUJITH
Bye.
SUJITH gears himself up and talks to his pals as Divya and Rajani almost start running.
As Divya tries to cross the next road, she is hit by a car.
BLACK OUT.
We FADE IN :
to a
INT. HOSPITAL DAY.
The nurse sits besides the bed as Divya opens her eyes.
DIVYA
What happened?
NURSE
You're very lucky. You've got a few broken ribs and a bit of concussion but other than that you're alright.
DIVYA
Where is Rajani ? And what happened to Sujith ? What happened to the man who was following us ?
NURSE
Rajani is in the police station. It seems an attack took place outside a whiskey bar on the same evening as your accident. A group of drunken men set upon a passer-by who had a weak heart. During the onslaught the man with the weak heart died. The man who is dead had your friend's mobile phone.
DIVYA becomes unconscious again.

A post on a rainy saturday
From yesterday I have started attending a "training". Rather I should call it a course.
It is good and I discovered the following yesterday :-
a) Student life is the golden life in one's phase of life.
b) The instructor being a PhD , asserted my judgements of a guy who does a PhD. Dedicated, passionate abt learning being the pluses and maverick , absent minded and recluse being the minuses.
c) I simply agree to disagree on his views (A typical PhD's thoughts abt life and society). I had judged most PhDs are very un-conventional.
d) I was trying to get the pronunciation of his surname. The strlen() of his surname was 20 letters and ended with a -kar.
I discovered the following today
a) I was wrong abt generalising abt PhDs and infact he is a very pleasant man with a good sense of humor and he actually tries to mingle with us .And he was a hit with us today after he started talking tech. Yesterday was an introduction class and he talked abt life etc.
b)Student life is a golden phase but it is really very difficult to sit for classes on saturdays.
The tech part :-
It was absolute delight to start talking abt Computer Architecture and Organization. I remembered the good old days of Hamacher. Accumulator. AB, CD, HL registers of the 8085 micrprocessor. Instruction Pipelines and Program Counters. The CARRY , OVERFLOW flags. 2s complement of a number. IEEE Floating point specifications. The Control Unit of the microprocessor, The bus diagram of 8085 and processor clock and instruction cyles, the Memory Mapped IO Concept. The Instruction Decoder and the factors which affect the word size of a computer.
It was a trip down the memory lane back to the 5th and 6th semsters.
I dont know if anyone remembers, there was a sorting algorithm which was a O(N) algorithm for Parallel Processors. The data had to be arranged in a snake-like format and the time was O(N).

Diary of a heroic woman
Reader discretion appliable
From an email fwd
This is a copy of the diary written by lady on a cruise ship.
A real heroic woman!!!!!!
Dear Diary,
MONDAY AFTERNOON:
What a wonderful cruise this is going to be. I felt singularly honored today as the Captain asked me to dine at his table tonight.
TUESDAY AFTERNOON:
I spent the entire afternoon on the bridge with the Captain. He explained everything he was doing and told me there are 1262 passengers on board and he is responsible for everyone's comfort, safety and having a good time. He is so charming and invited me to dine at his table, again, tonight.
WEDNESDAY EVENING:
The Captain saw me at the pool this afternoon and invited me, this time, to have dinner in his cabin. The Captain's cabin is very cozy and the dinner was served with the best wines. He made several glorious amorous proposals to me but I stood very firm on my moral convictions.
THURSDAY EVENING:
Tonight the Captain threatened to sink the ship, if I did not give in to his erotic proposals.
FRIDAY MORNING:
I saved 1,262 lives, last night......TWICE

Onam celebrations at office
Flower circle at office
Every year, the Mallus at office(even when I was in Infy) celebrate Onam by decorating this flower circle and wearing white sarees and dhotis....Ofcourse the canteen wallahs prepare some special boiled rice and kheer.....We had that yesterday and it was good.Does Karnakata have a traditional festival (like Onam?)....
Yes we do have Rajyotsava, but the point is i suspect every state in India will have an equivalent of Rajyotsava.
Rajyotsava is a not a festival. It is a state holiday and thats it.And for the moment, we wont wear traditional dresses and prepare sweets at home .We just call the orchestras and exclusively sing songs in Kannada.Maybe we should plan something like that

Is he really that good ?
Prasad puts it in his inimitable style: "My mother always told me not to handle a buffalo by its tail but always catch it by its horns. And I have used that lesson in everything in my life, including the Railways.
Prasad's other management mantra for the Railways has been: "If you do not milk the cow fully, it falls sick," which he is practicing while running the Railways.
If you are wondering which Prasad I am talking abt , it is none other than Lalu Prasad Yadav. He is invited to IIMA !!!!! to give a lecture....I guess it will be really interesting and entertaining at the same time.
In the process, Indian Railways has become the second-largest PSU profit-earner after the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation. Prasad has surprised many by emerging as one of the top performing ministers in Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's Cabinet.

Wisdom related post !!!
One day while walking through the wilderness a man stumbled upon a vicious tiger. He ran but soon came to the edge of a high cliff. Desperate to save himself, he climbed down a vine and dangled over the fatal precipice. As he hung there, two mice appeared from a hole in the cliff and began gnawing on the vine. Suddenly, he noticed on the vine a plump wild strawberry. He plucked it and popped it in his mouth. It was incredibly delicious!

Milan's last day in Sasken.
I dunno whether I will meet him again (I mean our career paths will cross again).
Sudeeprg sits with the headphones on, but thinking really deep.
One of the best PLs I have had !!! After all, tell me a PL who sings classic Rock songs, talks brilliantly and has deep insights on literally everything.
All the best for his education at INSEAD.
His last day at Sasken.
Man!!!
And many talks abt life, rock songs, the drunken revelry at a high star hotel, the conf-calls.....
Milan saab
I look up at the horizon and look at the world and observe that it is turning....

Yesterday I was visiting the website of the Indian Army and I found the page on Param Vir Chakra very VERY intriguing , inspiring.
The name itself means a lot...Bravest of the brave.
"This world rests on the arms of heroes like a son on those of his sire. He, therefore, that is a hero deserves respect under every circumstance. There is nothing higher in the three worlds than heroism. The hero protects and cherishes all, and things depend upon the hero".
I dont know if anybody remembers the "Param Vir Chakra" old TV serial which used to come on Doordarshan on Sundays. It was awesome and the song of the TV serial was also amazing.
The stories of each of the soldiers are stories of heroism/sacrifice. Some of the last words are really emotional. I also think , it is an example of leadership by example when I read about the encounter of Rifleman SANJAY KUMAR.
Bleeding profusely from the bullet wounds, he continued the charge towards the bunker. Unhesitant, he then picked up the enemy machine gun and crept towards the second enemy bunker. Three enemy soldiers, taken completely by surprise were killed by him on the spot. Inspired by his dare devil act the rest of the platoon, emotionally charged, assaulted the feature and captured Area Flat Top.
Just check out the recepients of the Param Vir Chakra on this webpage.

KANK review
The movie is bad. I have evaluated on the parameters which Karan Johar considers as his forte.
Casting of Shahrukh
Karan's trump card.
Shahrukh The dude, just has lost it. Was it the same Shahrukh who delivered Baazigar / Darr ? Or even recently, Swades ?
He keeps chewing gum throughout the movie and the damn words wont come out of his mouth properly. Second he looks visibly queasy to carry out a guy who has an extra-marital affair. He lacks Notoriety to that role....
He doesn't dance, in the movie. He just spreads his arms like an eagle and looks at the sky.Shahrukh is a good dancer....He hasnt danced in this movie.
And he plays a football coach....A loser in life...A la Million Dollar baby. But he plays it real badly.
Clothes and appearance
Good job, in my opinion EXCEPT for Amitabh Bachan.Preity looks like a porcelain doll. A little too perfect and very un-indian.
The heroines
Historically, Karan's heroines are good to look, talkative and they wear sarees during traditional dances in Punju style marriages.
Rani Mukherjee and Preity Zinta are good. I mean, they're good to look at. But, there is so much of them on TV/ads etc. you actually know the person....How many time are you gonna see those people ?
Rani Mukherjee tries to a play a dominatrix!!! ugh...A dominatrix has a whip, I know. But as far as I know, no dominatrix wears a cloth to her eyes.....(They generally wear face masks, if they wanted to conceal their identity).
Amitabh and Abhishek
Karan's ability to bring many people into one movie....
Big B has been harassed (not harnessed) as a jerk, and looks like a mess. I mean no-one can identify such a character...Neither NRIs can identify their baaps looking so damn silly and a UP doodhwala will be thinking "wtf" (in Hindi) looking at Big B....One more piece of info to Big B/ Karan.....There is no use faking ...the world knows about Hugh Hefner and his blondes..THe world knows about Ali G..
Abhishek Bachan has identified himself with bacchanalian parties...He is a cool dude with a coat ALL THE TIME...(and in one scene without his trousers, but he still has a coat)
Direction & script
1. Many, many closeups. This looks like a sitcom, with talking faces. Rani Mukherjee emoting her face has an overally duration of approximately 3 or 4 minutes. Shahrukh also has so many closeups. My question to the director is why should you become so dependent on an actor's emotions. Big mistake.
2. The extra marital affair scene was revealed sloppily to the viewer. Shahrukh and Rani getting a room-key looked awkward. If I were the director, I would have shown Shahrukh opening the room curtains in the morning and a surge of anger/confusion/hesitation in both Shahrukh and Rani, after the previous night's mistake (I use "mistake", to make it Indian).... And noone in an extra marital affair make love slowly... I think there should be fear, instinctive , animal-like and really quick ...Not like a godammn suhaag raat scene.
3. The dinner scene where Amitabh says "good joke" was good.
4. The relationship between Amitabh and Kiron Kher is weird. It is like "I am Amitabh and you are Kiron, and we have to know each other in no time, otherwise the movie wont proceed !!!"
5. Too much of inter-dialog, coud have been avoided. What I mean is :- Consider 2 scenes Scene#1 and Scene #2 which are taking place at the same time. Now the scenes 1 and 2 are switched rapidly, yet the context doesnt change, because the discussion is on the same topic.
6.Repetitive use of dry leaves flying around in the "fall season" of NewYork. If a house is shown in a shot, you can see dry leaves flying around on the isolated road.He has repeated this atleast 5 or six times.
7.The song "Where's the party tonight?" is very reminiscent of "its the time to disco" of Kal Ho Na Ho....Big mistake...and there is Preity Zinta also in that video....
--------------------------------------
LAST and the MOST IMPORTANT
--------------------------------------
India is tired of Manhattan movies. People can't identify with so much richness.
True it is dreamy, but we are tired of NY , Philadephia etc. If you want dreamy stuff, take us to Florence, Milan, Venice etc....Better make an adventure movie set in Congo or Tanzania or on the banks of Amazon....The world is a big place.
I want this effeminate jerk, Karan Johar, to make a movie EXCLUSIVELY in India...With SRK wearing a Dhoti....Maybe that will never happen.

LAST and the MOST IMPORTANT

India is tired of Manhattan movies. People can't identify with so much richness.
True it is dreamy, but we are tired of NY , Philadephia etc. If you want dreamy stuff, take us to Florence, Milan, Venice etc....Better make an adventure movie set in Congo or Tanzania or on the banks of Amazon....The world is a big place.
I want this effeminate jerk, Karan Johar, to make a movie EXCLUSIVELY in India...With SRK wearing a Dhoti....Maybe that will never happen.

On the eve
of India's 60th year of Independence and an article of Outlook I am wondering about Mahatma Gandhi.
For a country of India's size, illiteracy and general laxity of the public perhaps shrewd negotiable diplomacy was the need of the day. Even today the huge Indian public has its own diverse problems. There are national issues when we are at war...however at most of the other times, local issues are much more important to an average Indian.
When I say "general laxity" i feel this laxity is because of this prime reason :-
India WAS and India IS VERY diverse , geographically, culturally from one state to another...Thats why the public are were (and even now) more bothered abt local issues on a day-by-day basis.
Each one had his own ideals.Looking at the very diversity, the best option was Civil Disobedience and Gandhiji was instrumental in coming up with the philosophy.
Gandhi was a great leader in many aspects. Moreover what strikes to me is that the philosophy of "Non-Violence" is not "Non-Agression".
Power depends on the co-operation of others. Indifference and non-cooperation makes the enemy lose his cause. If you are violent, you are basically giving motivation. Nonviolence undermines the power of rulers through the deliberate withdrawal of this co-operation.
Finally, the notion of Satya, or truth, is central to the Gandhian conception of nonviolence. Gandhi saw truth as something that is multifaceted and unable to be grasped in its entirety by any one individual. We all carry pieces of the truth, he believed, but we need the pieces of others’ truths in order to pursue the greater truth. This led him to a belief in the inherent worth of dialogue with opponents, and a sincere wish to understand their drives and motivations. On a practical level, willingness to listen to another's point of view is largely dependent on reciprocity. In order to be heard by one's opponents, one must also be prepared to listen. From Wikipedia

So many events in one day.
Creme de la creme was MJA leaving to a univeristy called "INSEAD".
It was a big surprise to the whole team. He is the founding person of our 20-people strong team and one guy whom our clients hold in very very high esteem. His listening skills are something which I have never seen in my whole life. He listens even to a godammn rock. Whether the rock is speaking bullshit or GPRS Packet Core software. I wish him all the best.
ANd Today....
The roads were empty in the morning.
The team looks empty from my perspective (for the moment, atleast).
It is gonna be a major hit to the team and we need motivation and crisis management.

Work hours
I always observed that an average Indian spends more time in the office than an average American or an average European. This survey puts the same point.
However, Asians seem to be partially compensating for low purchasing power through longer working hours as they work the longest hours in the world, which is almost 50 days more per year than West Europeans.
People in Delhi work 2,121 hours and are entitled to 15 paid vacations per year; in Mumbai people work 2,205 hours and take holidays on 17 days a year, as against a global average of 1,844 working hours and 20 vacations. Seoul tops the list with 2,317 hours per year or 50.2 hours a week.
The bigger question is Even though we spend more time at work , why are we less productive ? . Hopefully with better ethics and values we can move out of this ineffectiveness..

FAITH WITHOUT FANATICISM; LOVE WITHOUT POSSESSING
Stuff from Infy BB. :)
“Faith without fanaticism; Love without possessing” - cannot exist in the material world. Further, if you defined true faith as directly proportional to one’s ability to forgive; and the ability to forgive is inversely proportional to fanaticism, then true faith can never exist because it calls for man to be perfect. And given that man’s basic instincts dwell in greed, jealousy, hate etc., the only faith he can naturally exercise would be material in nature. Material faith is inevitably followed by fanaticism. So when fanaticism increases, forgiveness decreases. Going forward with this hypothesis, it implies that material faith is directly proportional to hate. (this implies that the Material ‘God is Hate” which should not be confused with the version ‘God is Love’ which is representative of True Faith).
Again in the material world, we see that material love almost always possesses. There is a sense of ownership associated with material love. In my mind, I feel this sense of ownership associated with ‘society’s’ version of so-called “true love” (essentially ‘material’ love) is a function of subliminal programming that has occurred through the ages. For example, let’s take a husband-wife relationship or a parent-child relationship. These relationships are primarily dictated, directed and governed by social rules. Consequently, we see that love almost always imposes itself in the guise of “I know what’s best for you; I’m doing this for you etc.” Love as it exists in the world today is hardly ever giving in nature; it takes more than it gives. How many of you have actually seen love that is eternally giving in nature?
We have thus far proved that “True love” is inversely proportional to possessing; and “Material love” (which is what exists in the world today) is directly proportional to possessing.
To summarize - If forgiveness is defined as directly proportional to “true love” and inversely proportional to fanaticism which is directly proportional to material faith; It implies that Material Faith and True Love cannot exist simultaneously in harmony. It also implies that material faith is directly proportional to possessing. Does this mean we are all resigned to live a life hating one another? This could possibly be true because that is what we see in the world today – Hate thriving at an exponential rate. Additionally, since material faith is directly proportional to possessing, we see wars being fought under the guise of faith. Evidence to this fact are the Christian and Muslim crusades of the middle ages. In the modern world, of course, the spin doctors have disguised it to pass off as ‘a war against evil doers; a war against terrorism, terrorist’s holy wars, Islamic jehad etc’. However, this is nothing but a manifestation of material faith being directly proportional to possessing, albeit in various disguises.
Proof:-
Material Faith α Fanaticism 1/α Forgiveness;
Material Faith ≠ True Faith (Premise: Man’s basic nature leads him down the path of material faith. So he is not naturally capable of pursuing “True Faith”. Hence True Faith can never exist in nature!!)
But we said True Faith α Forgiveness. Therefore, we see that Material Faith can never be equal to or directly proportional to Forgiveness.
But Forgiveness α True Love 1/α Possessing
And Forgiveness 1/α Material Love α Possessing
This implies Material Faith ≠ True Love
Instead Material Faith α Material Love α Possessing
Contained in the proof above is wisdom that points to why nations like to wage war; terrorism; origin of pre-nuptial agreements; increase in divorce rates etc. The list is endless.

I am very bad with the array errors. This is the second time I am getting ^##^!@$ with this. :-(
For example, this code wont crash in C on Unix with your gcc and gdb or your windows compilers.
And these kind of things go undetected in Unitary Tests. And in the target compilers, the program just freezes.
Uff....I am really tired of this.Such an embarassment when it is detected at such a late state of life cycle.

Western Classical CD
I just got a Western Classical CD lying at home. It contains compositions of many great composers et al. But the point is :-
Everyone has heard it !!!
I think may of us can recognize many compositions.
Courtesy :-
All the damned cartoons you watch on TV!!
Especially Tom and Jerry has borrowed many , many tunes from the classical compositions. And some "serious" and "agressive compositions" sound like the background music of the fight sequences you see in the Kannada movies....
Well.
So much for my curiousity of Western Classic. I just stopped listening to that CD. I relate to Cartoons and Kannada Movies when I listen to that!!! It was hilarious

Very old-style post of mine
Whats happening in my head right now :-
1.Maruti Swift requires a clearance much more than my Maruti 800 (which was nicknamed H-B2B by me)...I still cant figure out accurate clearance.
2.Too many sweets eaten today....SHucks...
3.Cycle has to be given to refitting....I have been delaying this. Dammit.
4.One game of HALF-LIFE 1 brought back my (post-8th sem && pre-Ordyn) days memories.
One game of Road rash brought back memories of Naga ...THose rainy nights and Vikram's house and Ashoka pillar days....
5.DTM
6.Life goes on....Life is beautiful and nasty at the same time. I am feeling like a complete stranger lost in the ever changing city of life.
7.It's been awhile ............
8.God loves to spring surprises....There is no doubt abt that.

The email distraction.
The email distraction is the most common screwed-up distraction I face during work hours. This is beautifully brought out by one comic strip, which I am following for a week :-). I dont know about you guys, but this happens to me very often !!
It can be a small forward or a mail from a friend or somebody else.

himalayas
Ever felt travelling to Himalayas for 'satyanveshane' ? or concluded that it is just another crap idea ?
The quest for Truth about the purpose of life has mainfested in different religions, in different texts, different swamis, mullahs, priests, yogis, bhogis etc etc etc.
Each of these elements have exploited the human race in their own way.
We were better like animals, killing animals for food and sometimes each other. That looks cruel. But, what we do daily isnt any better. We kill aspirations, joy, peace etc etc of others knowingly or unknowingly. We lose temper, we accuse others, we judge, we misjudge, we manipulate, we hatch schemes, we do a lot of things.
Life in this society is just the quest for power, richness and glorification. This is neatly wrapped in concepts like dharma, karma, goodness, charity blah blah blah. The mundane truth of like is just power, richness and glorification.
I felt like going to Himalayas yesterday evening. ;-) This was in a fit of rage. I feel stupid looking back at that momentary decision. F**K my vague ideas. As if truth is embedded in Himalayas.. or badri, kedar, haridwar.
I am feeling hungry. This is the truth, hunger is so tangible, pain is so tangible, but happiness is never tangible :) GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
lunch time folks...
ps :- again not reviewing the text

Passion..
Ever since I started thinking, I havent discovered a passion in me. I have seen a lot of people(almost everyone) being passionate about something or the other, trivial or non-trivial. But I never could find one. I also doubt if I will have one in the future. I am kind of a shallow guy or a superficially deep(as worded by Sudeep about himself). It just struck to my head like anything. I too am superficially deep indeed :).
In school, I used to play basketball very passionately ( I think so cos back then I dint know about what passion meant). Give me a basketball I could play morning, evening or night, in my own Lousy way, but still would play :). This was one game where I was a little better than others, so I enjoyed playing it :).
But, I was sent to tutions and I never could improve my game. Why blame the tutions?? I never wanted to improve the game at the first place and hence never found a way, I needed a pretext and tutions were it.
Studies - aaaahhh, I was good at it, but I never liked any subject over and above the rest. I never aspired for a 100 in math or science in my school days. All I wanted was 90% to join NCJ, which was 3 km from my home. I was tired travelling long distances in BTS.
NCJ - A place where I learnt what LIFE was. At school I was a 'koopa mandooka'. The college was this cruel world, with ups and downns. And the end result was a DOWN. I fared very badly in my board exams (85% PCM was badddd, according to NCJ standards), but some how recovered in CET.
PESIT - What did I do in PESIT ? After obtaining a payment seat my goal was to get a placement and repay the same. I was never passionate about computer science. I took it cos, I wasnt good at troncis or mech (realisation from 2nd pu). The only two subjects I really liked were MuP and Network Theory. I read these out of passion. THe marks reflected it too. I was good at these. I joined PPR - so that I could be more assured of placements. I got Infy, so never seriously tried any other companies. I could clear the written tests, but not the interview, I was lazy to prepare, I dint have a field to target - networks, systems etc etc. I had one company offer, so I flirted with others. End result - I was left at home for 7 months.
Infy - Started with a bang, mostly out of need. Was scared I would be kicked out. 4 years down the lane, there is nothing I feel passionate about my work. I was good at onsite. I felt I had strong domain, analytical and tech skills. I could easily convince the best of my clients. I got borred there too. Headed back home.
Future - MBA, I do not know what I want to do - consulting, finance ?? are my options. I am passionate (oops - wrong , I think I am passionate )about consulting, let me see..
adios
